Boo Biscuit?
 

Went into the shop today to purchase a drop away rest. Shop guy comes up to me and redirects me over to the WB. Says that every guy that works there shoots one and I should give it a try.

15 minutes later, I am standing in front of a target, 20 yards away with my release aid, my arrows and the proper WB that fits my arrowson the exact bow I shoot now. I nocked an arrow, fired it down range. Here are my thoughts:

1.A bit loud. (bristles against the arrow shaft)
2. Love the full containment.
3. I would need one with a windage adjustment.

Nocked a second arrow, fired it down range after the shop guy made some modifications. The guy next to me said that he has firedapprox. 5000 shots through his andit looks and reactslike new. Here are my thoughts:

1. Not loud anymore.
2. Still love the full containment.
3. I would need one with a windage adjustment.
4. Why are all the whiskers now sticking out/criss crossedin the biscuit?

After a few more adjustments including centershot, etc. I fired a third, fourth and fifth arrow down range. Here are my thoughts:

1. Not loud.
2. Still love the full containment.
3. I would need one with a windage adjustment.
4. Boy those whiskers are looking worse. (cheap looking whiskers)
5. The whisker biscuit circleis made of plastic....might be some metal inside. I can move the thing with my fingers. Not sure I like that.Does not seemdurable enough.

Once everyone was clear, I walked down to pick up my arrows and immediately was pissed. My blazer vanes were destroyed, warped beyond any sort of repair other than to strip the arrows and re-apply a vane.

5 shots = 5 wrecked arrows? I asked the shop guy how this can happen. He told me that his vanes were warped as well but they still shot well through the WB.

Is this what I can expect? If it is...WHAT A DISSAPOINTMENT!

A straight vane "sifting" through fibers is on thing. A warped vane "sifting" through fibers is another. Warped vanes are going to cause greater contact with the WB. I don't want that. Loss of accuracy and loss of speed.

Say this WB wasn't set up correctly. Can I still expect to see warping of my vanes after 100 shots? 1000 shots?

As a courtesy, the shop refletched my arrows free of charge.

They offered to have me try another biscuit....."no thanks".

Yeah, ive seen this happen before. Im switching to a full containment, drop-away when i get the new bow in...

I'd say the WB was not adjusted right. The cock fletch needs to be up so that the bottom ones straddle the dark colored bristles. I have put thousands of shots through mine - using Blazer 2" - can't see any damage on them. There are different size holes in the WB - you want one slightly bigger than your arrow shafts. Sure your Blazers aren't hitting anything on the bow?

And there is a windage adjustment. It's not a micrometer adjustment, but you loosen the set screw and move it left/right as well as adjusting the angle. I like to mount the cross bar with contact against the bottom back of the arrow shelf.

Yeah that is what made the switch for me it kept destroying my vanes

Also, FYI, I recently removed a Tropy Taker drop away from my Hoyt Pro Tec to install a Whisker Biscuit. Have them on all my other bows as well.

My first five shots completely took the vanes off of two of my brand new arrows...I switched to a dropaway now, but I did put blazer vanes for the remainder of the season with the WB...worked alright for me.

This is honestly the first time I've ever heard of Blazer vanes being damaged by a WB. Which style of Blazers were you shooting?

I've been shooting with WBs for 6 years, I use 4" vanes and have no "real" problems other than some wavingwhich doesn't effect my accuracy at all. As far as the bristles getting all mixed up, I've never had this happen. It sounds like your arrow isn't passing "straight" through your Bisquit for what ever reason. Check your centershot.
What your describing sounds like a tuning issue, either with the Bisquit, the bow or both.I wouldn't "hunt" with any other rest. Also, there is some noise when drawing through the Bisquit, but I've never had it scare or alert any deer. Both of my bucks this past season were under 20yrds when I shot them.;)

This will be myfifth season with the WB, and have not seen any fletching damage at all.
