Default RE: Suggestions on a airline bow case

I am headed on a hunt in 2 weeks. I just shipped my bowUPS with 1,100 dollars worth of insurance on it. The bow will be aweek early on the other end. Over sized heavy bow cases may cost 50.00 extra on the airlines.

One of the guys that I will be hunting with, came to Idaho last year, and his bow was in Denver 3 days into the hunt. He too likes the UPS Idea, the shipping cost was 22.85. I boxed up extra labels and will ship it back.

If you want it to go with you, SKB would be my choice. However if you are heading to Africa, it may be best to find a way to pack it in your duffle bag!!!

I have several different makes of flight cases including Americase and Anvil but I picked up a SKB4 rifle case last for about $200 and really like it. It's purpose was to save on luggage pieces due to a person has a limit of 2 ea. I went on a hunt with 2 others and was able to put all rifles in one piece of baggage allowing 2 friends more baggage. I have also used it as a bow case and it has plenty of room for everything. I usually try to get it right up to the 50lb limit. In hunting cold enviroments , for me anyways it's hard to meet the international weight limits of 50 lbs. I just hate paying for over weight baggage [:@]

Directly from the SKB website:

$1500.00 Content Coverage Warranty
The incredible strength and durability of our ATA rated cases allow us to offer something no one else in the industry is willing to offer. Money... Moola... Dinero... Bucks... Clams... Long Green, any way you want to say it, we back our cases with what matters most, our word and a commitment that we will pay you up to $1500 to repair or replace any equipment damaged by a commercial airline carrier while secured in our ATA rated cases.

If you have any damage, file a claim with the carrier, after the claim is settled, submit the claim to SKB. SKB will pay up to $1500 to cover the outstanding cost. Plain, Simple, Straightforward, True. No registration cards needed. We know our cases are the best and we are willing to stand behind our products. For further information contact the Sports Dept at SKB, 800-654-5992.

Million Mile Warranty
SKB Hard Case Products are fully warranted against defects in materials and craftsmanship for the life of the case to the original owner. Any defects in workmanship will be covered by SKB. SKB will repair or replace any product found to be defective. SKB DOES NOT REPLACE CASES FOR DAMAGED HARDWARE. All locks, handles and wheels have been made field replaceable and will be supplied to you at no charge, a simple phone call is all it takes. Replacement parts take just minutes to install. If there is a problem contact our customer service line for further instructions at (800) 654-5992.
With the money that we invest in bows these days, why anyone would skip on a case that may not hold up to airline abuse is beyond me. Spend the money. Peace of mind for me would make the cost well worth it.
