RE: What is your reason for bowhunting?
I hunt to celebrate my existence as a man. Killing is deeply engrained into who I am. I don't need to in order to survive, but feel incomplete without it.
I'm in full agreement with PreacherTony. I enjoy the kill, because I'm a killer, and I accept this for what it is.
As far as "bow hunting" goes, there are many cool things about bow hunting that separate it from other forms, just as the others have their own desirable aspects. Like being in the woods while there are leaves on the trees, having to get close and never letting your guard down, no "bang" and no orange clothing. I didn't think about the no orange part until I was able to watch other people in the woods, doing other things. They had no idea that I was there, and that was a pretty cool situation I'd not experienced before. But, the absolute coolest part, is the rut...

My reasons may be a combination of the 4 options, and more...for me, its deeper than just a hobbie or something I like doing...its a celebration of freedom, and honoring the spirit of men as predators and survivors...its just the order of life...beings die so other live and we are right in the middle...

RE: What is your reason for bowhunting?
This was my first year hunying with a bow. Benn hunting for 20 years with a shotgun in the Midwest. I now live in the South and a bow is more PERSONAL. I could kill a deer from 50-100 yards with a Shotgun or out to 200-300 with a rifle. Bowhunting is so much more primitive and real to me than being a sniper. There is nothing like beating an animal like a whitetail deer up close. It takes skill. Rifle hunting is almost not fair to the animal. I love my bow!

RE: What is your reason for bowhunting?
My family eats what I kill and though it provides nourishment its not the main reason I bowhunt. If I am fortunate in taking a trophy buck to put on my wall thats great, but not the main reason I bowhunt. Its not so philosophical for me.......I bowhunt because it gives me great pleasure and a great sense of personal accomplishment. If I lost bowhunting, a part of me would be lost as well.
