I can't say that I've ever witnessed a deer running because of a smooth sound from my can either, and I can say that I've killed both doe and bucks that came to it!
On edit: I have had plenty of deer ignore the "CAN" to the pointthat they may acknowledge that they could hear it, but simply had no interest in coming to investigate!

I saw that episode you are talking about. He did say it meant danger if it was a long stung out bleat that most people do. The way he did it was short little bleats pretty rapidly. Thought that might be the reason ive never had anything come into the can.

In all the years I've hunted, I've only onceheard a doe make the sound the"can" does and it sounds EXACTLY likeit. Intrestingly, this was during the rut. Makes sense, since it's a doe in estruscall. I ALWAYS make one continueous evenflowing bleat and have gotten results.

I have heard a doe make the "can" bleat in my yard during the rut but never in the woods. I would say that the sound the can makesis really accurate but I believe it runstoo long. Ever since hearing that sound for real I haveused my can in the woods to make shorter bleats. I have never seen the can scare a deer in the woods.......they either ignore it or are very interested in it.

This year I brought in a small 4 point with the grunt tube. I kept working the tube, he just kept coming my way and stopping to feed. It was getting dark so I hit the can to see what he would do. He was gone before the can stopped making noise. I think he thought there was a big buck over there and when he heard the can (doe) and thought he may have came a little to far in that bucks territory. Don't get me wrong, I have shot a few deer as a direct result ofusing it. But I think you need to catch them in the right place in theright mood!

I have never had a deer run or become alarmed by using a can call. I have had a few bucks and does come to the call. But most just look my direction and ignore it.

I bought one this last season. Used it while hunting in as many different settings to see what it would do. Never saw any deer notice it! Never tried one with in shooting range but out side 40 yrds, no result. I will try again next year, but I don't have much faith. If I still have the same results, its free to who ever wants it.

Have you tried blowing thru the bottom hole???? It gives you the most flexability and volume control. If you haven't, try it...you'll be amazed.
