I'm new to this site, without sounding stupid, what's a pm list?
PM=Private message...........a way to communicate with other members about things without starting a thread in the forum or taking attention away from one that already exists. It is not a free pass to act like a jerk and harass other members. Most people understand this........some have to learn the hard way.

I use GoldTips exclusively now (in various drop-aways), but if you shoot a Whisker Biscuit, GoldTips are a BAD idea. I had several deer spook at the sound of the arrow being drawn with this combination.
Anyone else have this problem?

Nope.

I use Goldtips and can't but barely hear the arrow draw through my WB, and I have never had an animal hear/react to it!

Love my WB, and have for years now!
I have used Gold Tips as well (very dull finish on the arrow), my brother also shot Gold Tips for the last 2 years..........no noise problems whatsoever. My brother killed 4 deer in the last 2 years with his Gold Tips (I hunt with different arrows) and WB and they never heard a thing..........I have also personally butchered about 20 deer in the last few years that the WB was quiet enough to kill. I have at least 5 other guys that come shoot in my yard from time to time every year that have WB's and all kinds of different arrows. None of their bows are too loud to hunt with and they all kill deer year in and year out. The only guy in our group with a loud setup is my buddy who insists on using a crappy old Bodoodle that sounds like nails on a chalkboard.

If the makers of the rest dedicate a page of their website to methods to silence their own rest.....I suppose "DENIAL" would be the word to describe consumers so dedicated to said rest they didn't want to hear said manufacturer's "fixes". Go to the Carolina Archery Products page and see for yourself.

So if I've butchered more than 20 deer in the last 2 years (Including the FIVE I PERSONALLY killed, this year).....I can say it makes noise???

Rich.......

Again...it's a great rest. Good luck with it.

No surprise.

The speed loss with the WB is a non issue.........tons of other stuff on your bow will cause more speed loss then a WB and no one complains about that. Noise is a non issue as well........thousands of animals get drawn on and killed every year with no problems..........every rest (and other piece of gear) will be used as a scapegoat from time to time...........I use blazer vanes and have no vane wear whatsoever.

There are ups and downs to EVERY rest..........all things considered though you just put the best hunting rest on the market on your bow. Enjoy.

Guys....Like I said...I think it's a good hunting rest.....but there ARE alternatives (see photo of the full containment QAD Ultra, below).

Also.....I don't expect the people who own these rests to admit to its' faults. That's being delusional on my end. I do more than hunt (3D), and although the loss of speed isn't a factor (in my opinion)....I don't see a reason why I shouldn't be able to practice; shoot 3D AND hunt .....all with the same rest.

The WB makes noise. Period. If you're willing to accept the (admittedly) small amount it makes....then go for it. I hope it works out for you. Myself and the folks below.....I'm guessing....aren't willing to put up with it.

I'm done. Happy hunting.

I've used them, still do (some). They are tough, and a good arrow. I just don't like them cause they are noisy on my whisker biscuit. Had to car wax them.

W.B. is a great rest. You get opinions on everything but I bet there are more of them sold by far than any other rest out there. I never had a problem with accuracy on mine, but it will tear up cheaper vanes. Flex Fletch, and Blazers works great in the biscuit.Im sure there are others but these are the two that I used that were not affected at all by the biscuit. In my opinion flex fletch is the toughest vane made. The only complaint I had with the biscuit was while drawing some arrows, it makes a slight noise. My Maximas made no noise, but my Maxima hunters did,as did any other camo arrow I have tried. Not real loud, but on a dead calm day,it seemed loud.I now have a Muzzy rest and so far I like it.But I would not hesitate to try a biscuit again giving I had the right arrows and vanes .I went to a drop away so I could use any arrow/vane setup that I wanted. From what I have seen so far, this is what will keep me shooting a drop away.

great rest the only problem i had was noise.I used to shoot xx78 2315's but after scaring away every deer i tried to draw on i switched to carbons and have not had any more problems

I don't like them they make noise as the arrow goes through .

I will say that I do hear my arrow when I am drawing back my bow sometimes dragging through my biscuit but dont they all? I was drawing on a muley from a stalk Id done on him and at 40 yards we both heard it I think.I was still behind a bush when I drew and I know thats what he heard when he alerted on my proximity

I got one and agree on the noise somewhat,
Here's a quiet rest.....full arrow containment.

Are you SURE you want to stop there? Why not take the time to dig up as many posts as you can about fletchng damage too?
Maybe Atlas will take the time to dig up as many posts about non-noise issues and kills as you can for "too much noise" to kill posts!Go post for post until one of ya run out of post supporting your stance!

Howler.....I used to do that.....then the name-callin starts and the threads get locked.I guess I should just admit to being a dumb-ass as I sign off, every night . It would save a lot of trouble.
