Default gona one of them digi video cameras, help

I wanting to get one of those little video cameras. I was looking around in the store and saw a sony that recorded to dvds (directly, no sd card suport) and a jvc brand one that had a 20 gig hard drive for storage medium on it. they were both about 300-400 bux a pop.
I was wondering if any one had used a little video cam like these on there hunts to video deer doing what ever they do around your stand and maybe even the shot shot. as well as other general use like family re-union or christmas morning activities (I tell every one its for the memories but really its evidence showing which stuff was given to ME!! just incase some on forgets and tries to take my stuff, hhehehehehe) and that sort of thing, main thing is it needs to be good for the hunt so i guess that mean:
water resistant,
low light/ night shot capability
and good, clear, sharp image of the deer in the woods.

Arent the little tapes on the way out and the dvd video cams on the way in?? which is better for filming the hunt?

I just figure if its good enough for the hunt then the familly activities will not be to hard for it. keep in mind, if you have a suggestion, im trying not to spend 400 for the kit and cabootal here just to get a good vidcam. thanks for any help guys.

I'd try asking this in the HighTech Hunting Forum - someone may have some suggestions for you there.

To answer your questions.

MINI-DV is the formatof choice.

You want a camera with the lowest "lux" you can find, preferably a 0 lux. The lower the lux the better the cam will do in low light.

does lux have any thing to do with infrared videoing? are the manufacturers pulling my leg when (on sonys web site they said this for a new dvd vid cam) they say the infrared videoing looks the same as regular video tapeing? ie. they claim no green gow stuff its supost to look like day light. i am looking at there web site and cant find any thing showing the lux of the camera, where do you usually find it?
