For all you serious 3D shooters out there...

To be honest, I would not be using a dropzone if this bow is specifically for 3D. If you look at what 90% of what the guys shooting at the top level are shooting for rests, you will see many different variations of spring steel type rests. I really like the Trophy Taker Spring Steel 1 hole rest if you want something less expensive, but the pro tuners are really nice if you are willing to drop the $$$. A TT will run you $50-$60, and the pro tuners are a bit more just shy of $100 if I remember correctly.
If this is to be a hunter class bow, I really feel you can't beat the doinker 11.5" carbon elite. The adjustable weights on the end let you put the balance of the bow where you want it, plus it keeps the weight out away from the bow where you want it. It is the best of both worlds in stabilization, lots of shock dampening as well helping to limit your range of movement.
For a sight, I really feel right now the new Copper John Competition with all the micro adjust is the best sight on the market. The Sword Apex Micro 3rd Plane is pretty nice too.
For arrows, I know you aren't a big fan of GT's, but the pro 22's are hard to beat when cut 1/2" in front of the rest. I will probably shoot the pro 22's this year except for the ASA events which I will shoot a 30X pro again. If you definitely want to use a CE, I would actually be looking at the CXL2's instead of the maximas. They are offered in a lot of different spines and will allow you to get a light weight fat shaft that still spines OK, you will cut more lines this way than with your maximas.

I wouldn't go with the Drop Zone.I would use a spring steel style rest if strictly 3-d is the purpose.Like the one Trophy Taker has or a Brite site Pro Tuner.I love the Pro Tuner.
There are some great sights.If you are wanting to stay in the pin class,take a look at the Extreme Snyper,Spot-Hogg,Hog it or some of the newer pin sights from Sure-Loc.
Arrows,hard to go against the trusted old ACC's with parabolic glue in points with 2" Flex Fletch vanes.Many will recommend fat shafts for line cutting but I never saw an increase in points with fat shafts but did see an increase with ACC's.
I did have a low energy setup and fat shaftsin outdoor conditions don't work well together.
Maybe looking into some good hand held releases might be a plus.Carter makes some excellent releases.I use a Fits Me Too,if you have small hands,this is a great release.If not,the Just B Cuzis awesome but I REALLY like the new Evolution.Back tension without rotation,AWESOME.
Just ones opinion.

The drop zone is a fine rest,but if SERIOUS is the purpose,then it looks like Rick and I agree on the rests thatare most popular and for a reason.
Lancaster has the ProTuner for $75.00 and the micro Trophy Taker spring steel for $70.00 and the Trophy Taker spring steel for $55.00.That is hard to beat for a competitive level rest.
Funny,I sold my Protec,my Sure loc Challenger slide bar,Bullseye scope,but I kept my Pro Tuner when I quit shooting last year compeitively.[
]
For the record,I was not bashing your choice of bow.I would give the competition model serious consideration.But like you said,to each their own.

OK, obviously the TT is the popular rest amongst you 3D'ers, but I've yet to hear a good reason as to why it's better than the DZ.....I'm not opposed to using a TT, but to be honest, we don't stock those at the shop and the owner will want me to shoot what we stock, BUT I'll tell him to order one if I can get a good enough reason.
Rick, the stabilizer you mention sounds similar to one I just ordered, a Carbon Impact, and it also has the weights that slide.....Sound good?
The sights are where I am really stuck......I agree that the Copper John's are great, but again we run into the problem of availability. We just don't stock squat for the target archer, we just don't have enough to support it. Again, I'm not opposed to ordering those, but I am looking at the G5 Optix......how's that sound?
