RE: Ted's New Episode Madness
I have no problem with Ted representing me as a fellow bowhunter. An animal killed on his show has nothing to do with being a good representative of bowhunting IMO. I fail to see the correlation between the two. Probably due to different geographical and cultural upbringing than you. I do know that city people and most girls have an issue with the killing of animals for food. I myself don't.

RE: Ted's New Episode Madness
I do not understand why this is shocking, everyone knows where meat comes from and that animals die so we can have protein to fuel our bodies. They did not show the animal being shot on the show, they showed him shooting and did not show the animal. EVERY hunting show has an arrow or bullet hitting the animal and the blood trail that is followed. Blood is natural and being upset that the the animal has blood coming out of its mouth or on its side is silly. If you've hunted you've field dressed animals andhave had to deal with the blood and dirty part of hunting. Everyone has become so afraid of offending that we no longer admit the truth, we eat animals, and to eat them they must be harvested.

RE: Ted's New Episode Madness
Anyone could have just changed the channel and watched some person blow another persons gutsall over the place in some lame movie and not one apology. And the legitimate killing of an animal for food is so horibble? Stop and think about it.

RE: Ted's New Episode Madness
Still missing the point. The public opinion has already started to believe that the NRA is no longer a credible group (NOT MY OPINION) and Ted is just doing more and more to alienate us. All his actions do is make us more the minority. If Ted wants to be the spokesperson for hunters everywhere then he better start acting like one. To steal an old quote "With great power comes great responsibility." To be a public figure is to give up some of your rights for the rights of your peers. What he does on T.V. effects us all whether good or bad.

RE: Ted's New Episode Madness
Show this to 100 average non hunting people and get their reaction, something tells me it won't go over very well. Then let those same hundred people see Ted speaking for hunting.[:'(]
Fact is this was done for shock value, it had nothing to do with showing these ladies where their food comes from. I'm sure Ted will get a few more viewers that want to sit a giggle at these women being disgusted, cause Ted's the bomb and just so cool. |
RE: Ted's New Episode Madness
[/align]When I think back to those days jeff ,I smile and think of the goodold days of fresh blood pudding and chicken and gravy and how lucky I was to grow up in the hills and little farms of Pa.I think that made me a better person .We need to expose every person on earth that what you eat had to be killed ,if not we feed the fire to antis. If every person saw the animals they ate killed first hand ,hunting would be looked at as life not death and peta would never have been an issue.what kind of fallowing do you think they would have befor supermarkets and cellofane. |
RE: Ted's New Episode Madness
I'm no city person or girl.....but I think it boils down to there being a time and a place for everything. There's also a word for what a lot of you want to label as "PC". I prefer "tact".
A "tactful" Ted would have realized that he stands to do WAY MORE harm to our sport than the good he would achieve via the lesson to the girls. Again...I like Ted. That has nothing to do with this..... |
RE: Ted's New Episode Madness
So he can do whatever he likes and act however he wantsas long as he quits bowhunting and dis-associates himself from the sport? Whenin the public eye he should not claim to be a bowhunter because you don't approve of his killing of a lamb or his behavior? What are you doing to make our right to bowhunt poitive in the non-hunters' eyes? All of you namesayers should all keep your noses clean. Please don't get any speeding tickets, DUI's, parking tickets, or use fowl language in public. This could tarnish what people think of a bowhunter and that is not good for the sport. I do a lot for hunting in my community, but I guess because I do not act like a nut I will never be reconized. I have spent 1200.00 dollars for bows setup for youths hunters who could not afford one. Do you think Ted spends his own money? I have spoken at 5 local HS about hunting, I also run serveal youth hunts the past 5 years. I too belong to many orgs support hunting. Whitetails forever, NW-T-F, IBO, Michigan Sportsman. We have Turkeys in SE MI because of the work our chapter did. Our turkeys are from Iowa;) HCH I have talk to manytown boards about urban hunting. Each time the ARA came dressed as well hippies and I was wearing a suit. I conducted my self as a gentlman, and the ARA acted like buffoons. Who do you think the towns listen too? For the third time, and please pay attention! I agree with Ted on everything, I just want him to think about rest of us before he runs his mouth. When he is in his "Tedness" he is thinking only of himself and shock value. Not of guys like me and others that are fighting on the local level to promote hunting. Tell you what next time we have an issue about urban hunting;I will bring a nice fat doe to a meeting, I will shoot her in front of the crowd, let her flop around and die. So the folks that vote can get a taste of reality. What do you thing? It is TV HCH I understand that, I hope you understand in real life it would have disastrous consequences. |
RE: Ted's New Episode Madness
Is Ted extreme? Sure he is. He admitts he is and that's his style. You don't have towatch this stuff if it offends you. You don't take your kids or family to the slaughter house or chicken plant or any other place where animals are processed forfood. I can remember when I was a child and my grandfather owned cattle. I would go out and help him feed and tend to the cattle. I regularly went with him to the sale barn to buy or sell the cattle. I also went with him to the slaughter house when he would deliver one for processing to provide several months offood for our family. It wasn't a pleasent site to behold, but necessary nevertheless. So I knew at a young age what went on there and why it had to happen. It's a fact of life, and sheltering people from it doesn't change that.Ted shooting the lambon his show doesn't offend me.We all know that in his shows, he tries to have people who are opposed to anything that he believes in such as hunting, fishing, trapping, consumption of meat, carrying firearms, etc...... then he tries to persuade or at least show them howor why those ofus who do those things, do them. Yes,alot of it is geared towardsentertainmentfor the audience, but the actuall reality of it is that he's still promoting the things that we as hunters believe in. Would it have been any different if he'd went to his freezer and just pulled out some frozen lamb chops and served them? That meat was still taken from a live animal that was killed for it's meat. I'm just so sick of all the PC stuff all the time because we're afraid of offending someone who may not agree with us (hunters, conservationists, meateaters, fishermen), when they couldn't care less about us or our opinions.
