I get a little worked up after i shoot.I suppose there would be more laughing etc.if i wasnt alone like Greg said.I also think the shooter has had some acting lessions.Thats t.v. there trying to give the viewer the feeling that they shot it.If i were on the clip there would be a booner on the ground and a whole lot of beeping going on.I tend to use the f word when i get excited.

I am so focus on the deer I am only thinking 1 thing. Go down go down, then I sit down to collect myself. Once I recover the deer I give a fist pump, or I call Jeff and count to 16 with a tad bit of excitement!!

Oh I think I'd have broke down and holler too had I drilled that bad boy.
That is an awesome pic, I can put myself back in the moment instantly.

First elk i ever took i was 16 and rifle hunting alone bout 2 miles south of the house. I downed a bull that morning, lost my cow call in the excitment. Then puked 3 times or so on my walk home. I did not stop shaking for about 2 hours. Been hooked on elk since then but i now manage to hold my cookies.

It's all about emotions and how we express them. I don't think exhibiting a little bit of celebration is any more disrespectful to the animal than it would be for someone to not show any emotion and simply get down and go get their deer. We all express emotions differently in different situations. Hell, my old neighbor is a pretty laid back guy, but when his football team is playing, I could hear him from his house to mine...he really got into it.
I personally don't hoop and hollar, but I do get very, very excited when I make a good shot on a deer. I get pretty excited even when I don't get a shot. Yesterday afternoon I saw a nice 8 Point (no shot) and went home and told the LOML all about it...and I was excited. Matter of fact...talking about this has meexcited so I'm going hunting now and hope to have pictures to post later on.

Hey I never said anyone was doing anything wrong. I just gave my opinion.

It's a totally somber time, for me......right up to recovery. Of the 2 I had that I didn't see go down......I was never truly at ease....until they were recovered.

I guess the second deer I took, this year, may have changed the way I look at deer hunting, forever. I saw that littledeer get spined......and cry out several times before I could get another arrow in it. I then heard sounds of......well....just death. The third deer was just about a replay of this scene.

I'm not trying to sway anyone into feeling the way I do. Obviously....Im in the minority. The animal's paying the ULTIMATE price ....and I don't take that lightly. No whooping it up, for me. I don't fault what anyone else does. I understand it's very personal. A fellow board member (who might not appreciate getting mentioned concerning this) told me something when I talked to him about this. He said he understood how special that moment was. He said when we lay our hands upon an animal......we need to understand how special that is. We're the first human to ever touch that creature. It's humbling. It really is.

Interesting views, guys........interesting.

Have a great weekend.

After the shot, I am focused only onwhere the deer is running, how it is behaving, and where I last lost sight of it. If I think I made a good shot, I will let my emotions surface a little. I'll sometime say "yes" in a loud whisper. I never whoop or holler....... I guess I am conditioned dot be quiet in the woods at all times.

Once I find the deer I give thanks to God for the opportunity and take a moment to reflect on how blessed Iam and I reflect on the hunt. I always seem to realize how good "I" or "we" really have it at this moment......not sure why.

After this, well.............. the work begins!

Im not gonna lie i get pretty pumped after i shoot one. After my first deer I ran around the woods yelling. I actually got turned around when i went to find where my dad was setup and went the wrong direction...lol I dont think all of the pros fake their excitment. Some may, but I cant see someone like Stan Potts faking a cry after shooting a nice buck, and Michael Waddell seems to be a very high strong person. I dont think he's fake at all.
