RE: Jealousy
Germ, don't get me wrong I totally agree 100% that these type of people have a internal flaw! Those antlers bring the stupid out of them!
Remember...... Guns don't kill people, people kill people. Same as.........Antlers don't cause jealousy, people cause jealousy. |
RE: Jealousy
ORIGINAL: *JB* Antlers have everything to do with it. Why do people measure them if they don't? Why is there a "book" to list your accomplishments in? How many inches blah, blah, blah. So I tend to believe that if every deer were a slick head we would have way different opinions on hunting. In fact a trophy would be viewed as how much did it weigh? |
RE: Jealousy
It's not the antlers that's the problem, it's the person's DESIRE for the antlers. It's something someone WANTS that they can't have that makes them unhappy. Their reason for wanting them may be different, but their unhappiness is because they don't have what they want and how they decide to react to that. Same as anything else someone wants but doesn't have. Selfishness, self-centered, whatever you want to call it it's the flawed nature of man because we are imperfect. Plenty of examples in the Bible and history.

Inanimate objects are incapable of making anyone do anything. It's the person.

RE: Jealousy
So I tend to believe that if every deer were a slick head we would have way different opinions on hunting. In fact a trophy would be viewed as how much did it weigh? I think to a lot of the jealousy comes from the stage your hunting life is in. People, for whatever reason, that don't get many deer or chances to hunt will generally early on be a little awe struck with folks that get them. Then when they still come up dry while the other guy succeeds, they get antsy and probably a little envious. It's at this point that the people are separated by themselves. You know, when the jealousy becomes maddening to some and others will say, oh well, maybe me next time. That's when character kicks in. |

In MI it is still how much the deer weighed, first question I get is "How much did he weight?", followed by "How many points?" BHF I am pretty sure we are in the same page;) |
