Well let me put it to you like this. I planed to buy a Mathews bow this year to up grade my old MQ1, but didn’t. For what it’s worth buy the SB and save the money Specs are almost the same. Just a few FPS faster. The cam is not as smooth as SB or SB/ XT. Also it’s lighter but not as nice in the hand as the last 2 models when shot. Oh yeah and they want a lot more money for it.
So I found what i wanted from Mathews- Smooth cam, 36+ ATA, Feels good in hand and steady in shot, deadly acruateand did not retail over $800. So after test driving many new bows I bought a Hoyt Vectrex XL. It had all the things i was looking for.
Just remember you asked!!!

Mike:

I shot a lot of bows before purchasing my new bow on 12/7. I owned (and still do) an '05 Switchback........shot the '06 SB XT......and the new Drenaline. It was MY opinion that the Drenaline was a step backwards from either of the other twoMathews bows.

IfI could save money on the XT or the SB......I'ddo so. If they're the same price.....you have to think of possible resale ramifications.

Just my .02.You're going to wind up with a good bow ....no matter WHICH one you choose.

I have a new Drenalin ordered now and unlike the others I liked the way that it felt in my hand. I shot it side by side with the Switchback XT and although there isn't much difference in the two the Drenalin is noticebly lighter and a little faster. You can't go wrong with this bow. I can't wait until mine comes in.

Hey gut.....

It does IBO faster. ONE fps, I think. If the weight difference is a factor for you....then I'd go with the Drenaline, too. Just remember.....the absence of weight has a mitigating factor.

These are ALL FINE BOWS!! Bottom line......

GMMAT: I know what you're saying there is a little vibration upon release but I don't think that it's enough to matter and to me the Drenalin was quieter than the SB XT. To me if I already owned a SB XT I wouldn't trade it for a Drenalin but it was a better feeling bow than my Outback that I sold to buy the Drenalin.

I agree 100% with you. Thats why if they would of came out with a SB XT with a longer ata i would of bought it for sure. But instead they made a lighter slightly faster SB with a face lift and a new name. Am not saying that its a bad bow because its a good bow, but mathews for the 1st time did not impress me. I think they took a short step back.

I haven't had the opportunity (or the desire) to shoot one myself, though everyone I've talkedto (both loyal Mathews shooters and otherwise)who has has said the same thing in their own way. No one seems to be as impressed by it as they thought they would be.

I have an 05 switchback and it is the exact same specs as the drenny...I just shot the drenny over the weekend and I could not tell a diffrenece between the 2 other than the drenny was lighter. Hope this helps.
