Bow season is very productive for me. I see deer everytime i am in the stand. And i consider it to be a succesful hunt if i just see something. But come shotgun season it seems as if every deer in my timber is GONE!! Vanish!! just like that i go from seein gon average 2 or 3 deer and outing to 0!! but there are shots in the neighboring timbers. Just no deer to be seen in mine. What do you make of this behavior? PLEASE HELP ME!! IM DESPERATE!!!

If you're in postrut like we are in Iowa, you need to switch your focus from the bedding areas to the food plots. The deer here are more concerned with putting on a decent layer of fat to survive the winter than breeding right now. Find out what the prime late fall forage is for the deer in your region, and then find it in your area. That's where the does will be and that's where the bucks will be looking for does to come into heat in the 'second rut'. Full moon will cause the deer to be more nocturnal than they usually are too. We just had a full moon last week. Next week, the deer will be moving before dusk or after dawn better too. That's just my opinion and I'm sure some of the 'elders' out there would give you a different opinion.
