I had a friend just buy a new '07 Bowtech Tribute. It is a 29" draw. The birth certificate indicated that it is IBO'ed @ 302fps. Bowtech's website indicated that it should see 320-328fps. I know, or thought, Bowtech measures their speed with the nocks and hush kits on the string already and I don't think that a 1" draw length would reduce the speed by 18-26fps. I looked at other Tributes and the highest birth certificate speed I saw was 304fps.

I am not knocking Bowtech as I own one. My Old Glory's birth certificate is 306fps with the same draw length and I know the Tribute is supposed to be a much faster bow.

Does anyone have any insight to this? Not a huge deal, more curious than anything.

07 Tribute with smooth mods IBO's at 310-318 so with 29" draw that puts you around 300-308. I think he just has smooth mods and is right on to where it should be shooting.

do they usually come installed with the smooth mods on them?

Mine came with the fast mods installed.

It depends on the individual bow. Some come with smooth, some speed. I was just assuming. It falls right in line with the smooth mod speeds.

I.B.O. speeds are with a 70# draw weight,and 30" draw length.You will lose about 10 FPS when you shorten your draw 1" of draw length.

my 05 old glory birth cirtificate says 318 @ 29 1/2 ,I put the 28 inch cams on and get just over 300 with an ibo arrow,every bow is differant
