Default Fletch Size?

I am shooting a 29" 2315 XX78 super shaft, 100gr point. What is the best fletch size? I am told to go with a 5" with heelacoil. Any suggestions?

I think that shooting either 4-4" hellical fletch or 3-5" hellical fletches are fine. I personally like 4 fletches on my hunting arrows. But it is a personal choice. I would recommend bright fletching such as yellow, white, red, orange so that you have an idea of where you hit the deer, seeing the impact point and the type and color of blood on the arrow and fletching. I also like to use feathers instead of veins.

I have personally used 4" on everything from 2413s to the 5575 GT I use now with good luck. Stay away from flo yellow vanes. I used them this year and it was difficult to find the arrow. the yellow mixed with blood looks light orange, which happens to be the color of all the leaves on the ground.

I would like to fart around with 4 4"ers, right now I am shooting 5 1/2" highback shields, getting ready to go down to the 5"ers. (shooting stickbows). There is no reason you couldnt go 3 4"
ers if your set up is tuned right. 3 5"ers is the 'standard though". Just make sure you get a clamp to match your feathers. That or get a straight jig and do an offset.

I prefer the smaller ones over the bigger ones because they seem to stay straighter longer and not bend up. Plus I've had great luck with them.

I have some 4"ers at home and I'll give them a try as well.

Thanks

I shoot 5 inchers and have had no problems. The longer vanes seem to stablitize the arrow better.
