On alumimum arrows I like 5" on smaller carbons I prefer 4", both with as much helical as I can get away with.

5" feathers, left offset. Feathers are much more forgiving off of a rest. Any colours you use when mixed with blood are hard to find. So go with something bright to follow the flight at least.

You can use 3" feathers with no problem if you are using mechanical heads.The feathers are about 5 times lighter than veins and if you are having a weight forward problem the feathers might be the way to go.
