If an arrow could travel around the world in outer space, how long would it take after releasing the arrow before it was stuck in your back.

It can't shoot around the world in outer space because their is no gravitational pull to keep it going AROUND the world.

It would continue on out into outer space.

It would never come back around and hit you in the back, unless it hit a time warp then it would hit you yesterday.

Dont Satellites orbit the earth do to its gravity??

I guess with the proper trajectory and enough thrust you could make it come back and hit you... just a matter of figuring out the details..

But isn't it true that when you add thrust that their isn't enough gravitational pull to to keep in orbit.

An arrow that is shot has been propelled and should continue straight outward, shouldn't it.

I quess I should have said enough gravitational pull.

Gravitational Pull acts radially along the earth. In otherwords its always pulling you to the center of the earth. So once you get far enough away (i.e. outterspace) its just enough to keep you from flying away from the earth. Holding you in equilibrium, but since there are minimal to no drag forces a small amount of thrust will keep you orbiting...

But its almost impossible to find that equilibrium, we just get really close... thats why most sattellites fall out of the sky after like 30+ years... they slowly get pulled back in...

Why are we disscusing this again??? Amazing how the converstation strays...

mobo:

I'm with you......I can't discern a difference to 30 yds with my new bow.

I shot 'em all.....and I got th eone that takes the "arch" out of "archery". I shoot one pin to 30 yds.....with no adjustment. Thats the truth. I couldn't do that with my old bow. Not even close.......
