HOW BIG WAS YOUR FIRST DEER
#61
The First deer I ever shot with a bow was a doe, I was sitting in an oak tree on a Big limb. Shot her right in the shoulder bone, arrow bounced back out and layed on the ground! When I inspected the arrow, the Broadhead (a Bodkin) was wrinkled up like a wash board!! Doe not recoverd. The next week I shot an 8pt out of the same Tree. That was 1967, equipment was Plad shirt, Blue Jeans, leather boots, 50# bear recurve, Wood Arrows, and Bodkin broadhead.

First deer was a 70lb doe. I was such a rookie that i had no idea how high to get in a tree, i was only about 8 feet up. She comes trotting in, and i had no idea how to make her stop walking so i just aimed in my shooting lane and when i seen hair i released( sounds crazy now) The arrow hit her in the spine and dropped her. I was shaking so bad i had to grab the tree to keep from falling out lol.

Mature 8pt Missouri buck taken with a .243 many, many years ago. That deer never took another step...dropped in his tracks after the shot. Not only my first deer, but best deer to date.
