Starting Archery Hunting
I am going to try and make the leap from bird hunting into big game hunting this next hunting season. I have an area that is open to archery deer season for 3 months so I think that would be my best bet is to go with archery. I figure since this is the archery forum, I figure you guys could help me get started. I have been looking at the pse firestorm lite and the fed bear element. I have no idea if these are could bows or what they are just in my price range. Are these good bows for a beginner? What else will I need?

RE: Starting Archery Hunting
Go to your local pro shop.
Tell the gentlemen working there your price range.
Shoot every bow available in that range regardless of the brand.
Purchase the one that fits you best.
After that, the work begins.

RE: Starting Archery Hunting
I cannot speak about the Fred Bear Element, as I have not shot one, but I do own a PSE Firestorm Lite. It is 2 inches shorter in axle to axle lenget. As far as speed goes, it is a wash,PSE 300 fps and Element 302 fps. I love my PSE Firestorm Lite. It is a short ATA bow, but it does not seem to be so critical of my form as would be expected with most shortATA bows. It is accurate and fairly light weight. I do not think you would be disappointed with it, but without the reference, I cannot say wheather it is better than, equal to , or not as good as a Fred Bear Element.
Good luck and God Bless.
