And that connection would be that we all LOVE beer???
I think when we get together you guys have to taste the best beer in the world. I refer to it as Vitamin "Y" also known as Yuengling (No they aren't chinese). Brewed right here in Pottsville, PAthey are officially recognized asAmerica's Oldest Brewery. They have the best line up of beers in the country.

I haven't met a beer that I was afraid to introduce myself to as of yet, so I'm down with that.

i used to hunt NJ because they start earlier then PA and run until end of nov with short gun seasons and then they have a winter season. not sure exactly how it is now but should be close and its not crazy far away. used to be loaded with deer but some areas i hear are slowing down but others are just as over run as ever im hoping business picks up so i can afford to go out at least january and then ill have my lisense for the fall next year hope to try for a velvet buck in one of the zones that opens early in NJ.

No doubt. I lived in PA for 9 years and drank lots of "lager". It's still one of my favorites and I buy cases of black and tan whenever I am down there.

Me buy the gas?, I'm getting the bargain in the deal here, you guys have never seen me put them away when I want to. Don't do that very much anymore, maybe once a year if i'm lucky. Usually just a beer or two here and there to relax.

Rick James, you know what i'm talking about with Vitamin "Y". You should be able to get it in NY. I know their distribution area is into NY. I grew up less than an hour from Pottsville in the Coal Regions so I was practically bottle-fed the stuff. They love their Yuengling so much in Pottsville that on the opening day of the rifle season the people who don't hunt go to the bars and drink all day. The call it the first day of "Beer Season"
Yuengling Premium is and will always be my favorite, followed closely by Lager and Black and Tan.

Mo_Bowhntr, ah a young pup huh? Well atleast we'll have a designated driver.;)

MOMightyMite, Budweiser? Your kidding right? YUCK![:'(] I'm getting a headache just thinking about it. Anything by Anheiser Bush doesn't even come close to Yuengling.

Here's my advice to you PA guys......

PUT $5 ASIDE SOMETIME DURING THE YEAR SO THAT YOU CAN PURCHASE A DOE TAG AND EXTEND YOUR SEASONS!

That'll be all....

RE: Already going through withdrawl!

SBGobblers, I still have 3 tags to fill here in PA. But my favorite time aka Early Archery Season is now over. I will be taking my rifle out when the Orange Army hits the woods but that is just one of those traditions, it is more so to go to hunting camp to drink and play cards and tell stories. I will be taking the bow out during our late bowseason but deer are real tough to hunt then. So I still have tags left to fill, I'm not like a certain moderator for this forum that didn't get a doe tag this year. I won't mention any names... Cough! cough! ROB!!!

I was kinda ribbing Rob, PA. I hear your woods are full of weekend warlords when the gun season opens.....and it's not a real safe place to be at times!!! I guess I'm spoiled, here. Rob will be here Friday and Saturday.....and we won't have anyone within a mile of us.

I'm also gonna loan him the $5......for next year:D

You ain't kidding about the weekend warlords when rifle season comes in. Oh the stories I could tell you. We really aren't kidding when we say the "Orange Army". Consider yourselves very lucky. Even during our early archery season we only have about 2 weeks of peace and quiet. It is not too bad since I hunt on mostly private ground, but get on public land here in PA and it gets out of hand.[:@]

Rob,

I believe I read in one of your posts that you didn't want to take a doe off the property this year and thats why you didn't get a tag. Next year get a tag for 3B and you have an open invitation to come up to my place and take one. We really really need to trim down the doe population and I honestly could use some help because between the 3 of us we can't pull enough tags to trim the population where we want it. We have 3 tags between Dan, myself, and my Dad this year and honestly I don't think it's enough. We have 7 different family groups of does that frequent the property that I know of and out of those 7 groups, there are about 13 does that are 1.5 years or older. This is only a 120 acre patch. We are only about an hour from you and I could put you up in in a pretty nice place as well.

Im sorry to hear it. Our season starts at the end of Sept. and doesnt end till Jan. Mind you rifle season starts in Nov. so you got to deal with the deer acting a little more skitish. Im also lucky, when season ends here, we got hogs all year round. Acually, the hog hunting picks up late in the winter. Im such a lucky slob.:D

PA Hardwoods 11-14-2006 08:36 AM

RE: Already going through withdrawl!

It's Official! Burnie YOU SUCK TOO!!! Just kidding. I could just imagine having seasons as long as yours here in PA, Very quickly there would be no such thing as a whitetailed deer in PA with the Orange Army marching around[:'(]. I think PA is only second or third in the country to I think Michigan and Minnesota in the numbers of hunters in the state. Some rifle seasons it really feels like there is a hunter behind every tree, especially on public ground.

So guys do we have a name for this little road trip we're gonna take? Realtree Roadtrips will have nothing on us!:D

PA....

My bow season starts 9/9.....and ends 12/19.

I then go one county over.....and hunt with a friend on his lease until 1/1.

That is......unless I tag out!!.....lol (Which would be THREE more deer!)

Jeff

Alright good deal, we have a clan ready for this trip. Yeah PA, I'm more of a flavor drinker as well... I like my brain cells. But your gas bill is increasing, by the time TXjourney and burnie make it to my house up here in OK, then we drive to Missouri to pick up all the MO's and then you and Gramps (AKA Rob)meet us in Montana...

Burnie, these pictures are from my buddy's ranch on the Brazos... I know you know the Brazos.

:D:D:D. Its a great thing for me, but my wife dont like it much.lol.. If you could get to Tx. There is loads of public land. Hogs everywhere. And since the market is down on them, no one is traping them. Im seeing more and more. I almost hit two this week on the road coming and going to work.

But if the morons in the cities keep voting for idiots like our Gun-Grabbing Govenor "Fast Eddie" Rendell I may want to move[:@][:'(]. But that is another story.[8D] I guess i'll just have to find some friends out of state who would be willing to let me come hunt with them. Hint! Hint!;)

RE: Already going through withdrawl!

You bet. My land in Jayton is on the salt fork of the Brazos. I live in knox county, next to two forks of the Brazos, actually watched a bunch of hogs crossing the River yesterday. I also hunt in Brock right on the Clear fork of the Brazos. Actually lost a doe in the Brazos there three weeks ago. The river was up, P.K. had the dam open, and I shot a doe about 20 yards from the river, she ran to the river and piled up in it. The river washed her away. I was not real happpy. We could never find her.

I use to go to Norman quite a bit. Back when I was in College (1990s), I set the O.U. Record for the Highjump in their indoor facilites. I also like to ride my harley in those parts. Either up through Ardmore or Lawton.

I'm going through the same thing as well. I rarely harvest a buck before the rut, but did this year. It's killing me not being able to hunt, but still see all the rutting activity. I'm able to tag along with my friends though and hang double stands, which helps...

How'd this turn into a rib Rob thread..lol ;) Technically it wasn't classified as a mullet, it was my 80's/90's rockin hair and really got the women and the picture that he's (PA HARD) is refering to is this one. Rob in his younger years, no grey, a "mullet" and first ever archery buck.
