ground hunting

I make sure I have something to breakup my outline. A downed tree for example. Also you must be much more conscious of scent control and wind direction. I really like to hunt from the ground but I get busted a lot more often. Also keep movement to a minimum. If you can't sit still don't waste your time you will get busted. When you draw make sure you can do it unseen. It is hard hunting but what a great feeling when it works out. Good luck!

Ground hunting is the only way I hunt. I like stalking them as it has proved to me it is easier to get a shot. When sitting I have been busted way to many times, although it is very enjoyable being able to look into a deers eye at ground level. When stalking and you come up on one a deer seems to stop and look for a few seconds as if to see what the heck you are. This giving you a shot. The hardest part is guessing your range, which,
makes stalking all the more difficult. You have no markers or anything to guess and only a short time to get that shot out. To date I have shot four deer stalking with my bow. Most folks around here find that amazing to be able to stalk any deer with a bow. But, like txjourneyman said " it's a great feeling when all works out" the enjoyment of success is a wonderful feeling. Good Luck on your quest.
