I have only been out a couple days this year but this weekend I saw excellent response to the new M.A.D. Buck Growl call. It has brought deer into my area as well as drawn them close to my stand. The buck I killed on Sat was all fired up and literally came right to my tree on a mission.
The deer I see are not monsters..........which was my fear with this call. I didn't want to scare every buck for miles around with the sounds of a dominant arse kicker growling up the woods..........would make about as much sense as me rattling a set of 160 class antlers........all that will do is keep deer away in my woods.
I should mention a couple things. First, I think the call is a VERY nice grunter all by itself and I have used it as such.......I think you would be fine if you used it without ever trying to "growl" Second, I have never growled with it like whichever Drury is on the DVD does. My growls were softer and less of a scream but I did get pretty aggressive with the buck that I killed.
I have called in a 1 1/2yr old spike with a doe (came up to and hopped a fence and headed right for me).........a pair of yearlings that were alone stopped and changed direction to come check it out........and the buck I killed came looking for me so determined it was scarey.
I am very impressed with this call.............it is staying in my gear bag for sure!!

Atlas,
I feel the same exact way about the call. I had awesome results the very first time i tried it. it definitely hasa nice sound to it as a plain old grunter. sounds like you use the call just like i do.I've only heard of people grunting in 1.5 year old bucks. i'd like to hear if anyone has called in a mature buck.
i've tried it quite a bit this weekend (opening of gun season in minnesota) with no results. But, I did turn the can a couple times and brought a doe right in (which i shot
