Default Do you think this will work???

Well once again the bucks wont come within range. They keep going into the woods below me. So do you think this will work? After being aggravated once again that they wont come close to me I got out of my stand to come back to the house and when I got to where they are walking in I pissed on there trail in hope they will smell that and come up closer to me. Do you think that will move them?? They have done this to me over and over again. The only time I had deer come close to me I couldn't get a shot as they came from behind me and to my left ( I'm left handed ) and I couldn't position myself for a shot without getting bagged. They never did see me as they just kept eating and walked off slow. I have had the wind in my favor every time they cross the road and they just wont come up to where I'm at. They never run off they just walk along slow and threw the woods in front of me but never close. Moving my stand isn't really an option as there is no trees big enough to put it on. So what do you all think??? Thanks for the input

I personally wouldnt have done that, but it could work. I would have tried to move my stand down wind of the path that you kept seeing them on. Where i hunt, deer see humans every day and are not that scared of them. As long as you arent too close to them, i can get away with alot when it comes to scent and access to my stands, but once again im hunting mostly in neighborhoods, so pissing in the woods doesnt bother them. Like i mentioned, it might work but might not. If they keep coming down that path, move your stand. Also remember that your bow hunting and that is the nature of the sport. It can be very frustrating at times, but when it all comes together nothing can compare. good luck.

from everything i've ever experienced, those deer don't care. I've pissed in the woods many times and had deer walk right by it, they didn't even think twice. I don't think anything will change really. Sorry

Human pee doesnt effect deer movement. I found out from experience. Oiss on a scrape one day and put a few leaves on the top and come back a day or so later youll see that scrape was hit very hard.

actually that might keep them on that trail.....deer can not tell the difference between human and other deer piss.....the only thing they smell is the ammonia. Everything else breaks down quickly. By walking on the trail, you may have left scent from your boots which may scare them a bit but by pissing, you might actually attract them to the trail even more cause they think it is a new deer in the area....

I'm not walking on there trail. There is a dug road that goes around the property and that is what I walk up on and my stand is just off the road and is over looking that and some woods. Like I had said moving my stand closer to where they are is NOT an option as there are no trees to support it. What do you think will make them walk up the road a little further? Before season when I was scouting they where walking up the road and by where my stand is and now they moved. There is alsotwo rubs right behind me and a good trail right above me where I can shoot but they don't seam to be using it much now.

Probably 40 yards or so but there are also trees in the way for a shot. I wouldn't take a 40 yard shot. I have practiced it but don't think that is a good range to be shooting a bow at deer and still get good penetration with my set up. I'm only shooting about 60lbs.

I watched a hunting show one time that said if you put stuff in the way of a deer trail they will go around it becuase they like to take the easiest route. Maybe try to make brush pile or put a tree across the trail in the way. The only thing is this might make them go around it the other way and be even further from you. Could build/buy a ground blind closer to them?

No pee is pee they don't know the difference or can't tell human pee from, all the hundreds of dif animals that pee.

But why don't you just make a ground blind or find a place to hide by the trail down farther. Just find a place to blend in about 30 yards away from the trail so you can get away with more movement and snipe one. Sounds like that's your only option. If they have moved already because of human scent don't make them move again because of it or they will become really causious and might just leave the area all together.
