I agree.

And from the hair that I see, it wasn't the belly.
Well, people tend to always think all hair in the belly area is snow white. It's not. Front of legs, back of legs and quite often the brisket line itself is dark hair. Yes, the true belly area will be white usually. But the brisket line is usually brown to dark brown.

The brisket has that colored hair and a layer of fat that can be an inch or more thick. My money is on a brisket hit....look real hard though..you never know.

Shot him in the chest are you insane??? Why on heavens earth woudl you take a shot such as this with a bow!! I tell ya what you more than likely got nothing but brisket...the deer will more than likely live to see another day. I would advise against shooting any deer in the chest with a bow.

I'm sure he wasn't aiming for thebrisket.A lot of times when we're nervous we try for a perfect shot but end up with a miss or a bad hit. That's what I did with the doe I mentioned earlier, and I didn't hit her well. It happens to all of us i guess.

Where would you reccomend aiming? By chest I meant, heart, lungs. (ribcaged area).

I have had this happen to me , The shot goes through the backstraps , just under the spine and above the vitals , i had some flesh , fat , and hair from tip to knock , but never found the deer , and only found minimal blood , but the deer lived , i saw her a week after with her fawns , and only a scab high in the backstraps...
