The farthest I've ever been away from home by myself was 3 hours... I was so nervous at first, but then it was kinda refreshing with no one to worry about but myself... it was also completely and 100% paid for by my company for 4 whole days in a beautiful Hilton with all the room service, bar service, etc... I wanted. To top it all off, I even ventured with a few people from class and went downtown to the casino for an hour and came home $250 richer than I was when I got there!

As BHG said, maybe some of you guys can carpool

Does everyone have at least one treestand? If not, I have three that I will get set up and ready to go. There is one spot that is PERFECT for a groundblind. I'll look for another, since we've got short-leggers coming to this shindig.

As for the cabins, there are 8, so our numbers will have to be limited, unless someone wants to pitch a tent. The cabins are in 2 groups of 4 and again, each will sleep 6 people. One group is nearthe areasome of you will walk in to hunt. The other is a little ways down the lane, by a pond. also, they do not allow tents on the cabin sites. I assume that goes for cooking tents as well. I'll check into that.
Looks like we'll have to use space heaters if it gets chilly.

I'll try to reserve the cabins as soon as they allow. I tried earlier today, but they won't let me make reservations until next May. The earliest day we can get in the cabins is October 6th, which is on a saturday next year. Let's shoot for that weekend for the hunt; saturday - monday. Check in is at 3.00pm and check out is 12.00pm.

Since shooting in the campground is not allowed, it may be a good idea for all of us to meet atthe local archery shop, before going up. That way everyone can get a few practice shots in and check their equipment to make sure nothig got bumped on the way here.

Here's what I found for the cabins. Each cabin is a:
NON SMOKING CABIN. NO AIR CONDITIONING. TOTAL CABIN SIZE 170 SQ FT. 2 SETS OF TWIN BUNK BEDS WITH MATTRESSES BUT W/O LINENS, 1 LOFT THAT CAN SLEEP 1-2 PEOPLE BUT NO MATTRESS PROVIDED. 1 FIRE RING WITH AN ADJUSTABLE COOKING GRATE, TWO PICNIC TABLES. TWO PARK SPACES PER CABIN. 450 YRDS TO PLAYGROUND, 7 MILES TO THE BEACH, LAKE, AND CAMP STORE, 150 FT TO PORT-A-LET, 5 MILES TO MOORING, 225 YDS TO COMFORT STATION, .5 MILES TO RAMP AND 300 FT TO WATER.

Uh, yeah, you will also come home with a deer....lol

Yes, they have sites for campers. Reservations can be made online. Why not bring your brother with you? He can run the video camera and help the other guys around the camp.

wilk, you and your wife are more than welcome to join us.

just curious, here's a link: http://www.in.gov/dnr/parklake/properties/park_rates_fees.html

When you make a reservation, make it for the Mississinewa campground.

Also, everyone, make sure to bring a large cooler with you, so you can haul your deer home. There are a couple of processors not too far from the area.OR, I canenlist the help of my buddy, Larry. He can have your deer skinned and quartered in about an hour. From there, we can cut it into smaller pieces, or you can take it home in quarters and have your processor cut it up.

I really want this to be an enjoyable experience for everyone, even the guys, so if anyone has any wants, needs or concerns, please let me know.
