T.R. Michaels wrote us this a while back.

"I thought I would write you and tell you of some of my experiences with your clothing. First, having been a biology student in college and having worked in the medical industry, I know charcoal is one of the best filter mediums known. However, I was skeptical about it's use in clothing. But not now. My first experience was in October when early in the morning I walked through a group of bedded does and fawns in an open field on the way to my stand. The deer heard me and spooked. When they snorted I held still, snorted back and they snorted again. I took out my grunt call and grunted, as I alternately grunted and snorted to the deer they approached me downwind. This was with an eight mile an hour wind with 80% humidity. These were optimal conditions for the deer to scent me. They actually came back to me within 15 yards. All the time I expected them to wind me and spook but they didn't They finally moved slowly away. I would like to say it was because of my camouflage but I know better it was your Scent-Lok.

The next day, under the same conditions a doe and fawn approached me when I was just glassing my area. I was not wearing Scent-Lok and when the doe got downwind she literally turned inside out. She didn't see me but reacted to my smell.

Since then I have had nine more deer in 11 days within 150 yards downwind, including one eight point buck I grunted in within 18 yds and another that I rattled in to within five yards. When I attempted to take his picture he spotted me. He spooked but I grunted to stop him then rattled him back in again to within seven yards. During this time I had about a ten mile an hour wind and the buck was at all times downwind. He definitely should have smelled me. There is no question in my mind that Scent-Lok is the reason for my success. This is a GREAT product and it should be part of every big game hunter's wardrobe.

...Thanks for a great product, I wish I had though of it." T.R.

The guarentee is worth about as much as the toilet paper that I used this morning.

They sell high quality clothes with a huge gimick attached. If you can get non-scentlock clothing for even $5 less get it. It doesn't work. The chemistry proves it and one wash willprove it further. Your washing machine will be covered in carbon. I wish I would have weighed my clothes before and after washing.

For all of you guys that swear by it, you're allowing marketing to rule your world. Congrats.

Also, what we are saying is that if you use our stuff correctly, we'll take care of you. For about $250 you can get in the gig and try it out. Yeah we make no apoligies about getting busted if you don't take care of it or use it correctly. Use it correctly and we'll back you. End of story.

Personally, I think its a waste of money. If Scent Lok was a little cheaper it wuold be worth the try, but its so expensive its rediculous.
So if it was a Waste of "less money" you'd wear it? Why if it's useless??
I'd hate to wear something rediculous too.

Guess we just need Mr. Michaels to explain his change in opionion. I noticed though that you didn't say he was wrong about the temperature needed to reactivate carbon. Is any part of his study incorrect Mr. Scent Loc? Again, I'd gladly go pick one up if I thought it would help.

I've worn scent lok for the last 10 years... headnet, gloves, pants, jacket, etc..I shower before both the morning and afternoon hunts and dry with a scent free towel, I spray my equipment with scent away spray, I even wear latex gloves when handling my stand.... I take every precaution to control my scent.

I have had deer directly down wind of me that had no clue I was there, and I've also had deer walk past me to the downwind side and totally bust me. I dont think there is a way to go TOTALLY undetected.Do I think it works? No. Did I think it worked at one time? Yes. Do I still wear it? Yes, because the garment is still in great shape...lol

Atlasman stated , there is no such thing as "scent free" to a whitetail when you're upwind of it . Case closed .
You are correct, you cannot totally eliminate your human odor, but you can reduce it. Most whitetails accept a certain amount of human odor. If they didn't, they be on the run 24/7 unless they live in such a dense area that humans don't exist. In my hunting area, there are humans 360 degrees around the woods. If they didn't accept some human odor, why would they live there. The key to is to reduce your odor to an acceptable level so when they do wind you, they think your not as close as you really are. If Scentlok or Scent Blocker and Scent Killer helps me to that, which it has, I'm all for it.

Rob did you read the article. It points to the fact that these suits stop working pretty quick. I think they stop working after the first wash. I don't have scientific evidence to back it but logical reasoning based on the amount of carbon in the suit Vs what is left after a wash.

When I first bought and supposedly activated my suit I did the fart test. I even used a double layer and it still passed through. There is very loosely supported evidence to support that these suits work and lots of scientifice evidence that they don't.

I'm tired of the large companies with large advertising budgets ruining our sport by turning it into a money mill of wasted dollars. I was in Home Depot the other day looking for rachet straps. The had all kinds and in assorted colors and most came in 4packs that cost $15. The camo colored straps were over $18 and they only gave you two for the exact same strap. They think we are idiots.

statjunk, like I mentioned in my first reply, I don't care how much or little they work, if they work a little, that's a plus for me and mentally, it's major. I haven't spent the big money on the expensive suites. I have the under layers like the Base Slayer because none of them make them in good camo, ie open pattern. So if they work or not, I didn't spend alot of money and I use them as undergarments. It's win, win if they do.

Again, I'm trying to minimize my scent as much as possible and I look at it this way, they have to work at least a little or they wouldn't use the same tech in chemical suites. Right?
