Cause it takes a steer to be 14-18 months old before it puts enough fat on it to be finished... Lambs we kill at much less than a year old.... Although our old cows and bull are more crafty during round ups, we don't have to practice any scent control with them, they take care of it for us by crapping all over the place

Nature was messed up a long time ago Don when we removed the predators.. The things die in nature, the young and dumb and the weak be it from age or injury or illness. Yes, some of the strong die too but most predators want to take the easy way out. It is a dirty, nasty, vicous thing but nature is what it is. Personally, I respect your beliefs and pasions Don (I have lurked over on IBS site and read your posting for 2 years probably).. Not saying I would do everything the way you do but that is okay, people doing things differently is what makes the world go round but than again I am still in 1st grade, well maybe 3rd, when it comes to deer hunting..

Good night boys and girls!! I'm gonna go dream about a big monster buck and I am sure the rest of you will be dreaming about forkhorns. YEAH RIGHT!!!

Johnny ... aka BigJ12, there is a good chance that you might mature as a hunter along with several others who are at the stage where they must kill Kill KILL!!! Dont sweat it junior, every mature hunter was once at the stage where you are today. There are several good hunters on here. They all grew past it. Dont be one of those that gets stuck there. Keep working on your skills and maturing as a hunter and someday you too will have the will power to let a deer walk that you could have shot.
Dude...I like that...

Who said is was OK???? Not me!!!! When I shoot does I try to shoot older does.
So every doe you shoot is 4 1/2 or older?

Why is it OK to kill baby deer but not baby seals? or baby rabbits? or baby birds?
Who said it's not OK to kill those things?.....Not me!!! Nature kills all those things every day. Kill whatever you want...........as long as you do it legally and safely. You could re-shingle your roof with baby seal pelts for all I care...........if you do it legally and safely.

Why does a farmer lets his steers grow up before sending them to market?
Because they pay by the pound.

because that is natures way!!!! until kill-mongers posing as deer hunters get involved and start messing with nature!!!
You don't seem to know nature very well. Nature preys on the weak and small, and slow, and so on. Have you ever seen a predator let an animal walk past because it had raised the bar or got past 1st grade in hunting school?? Sounds pretty dumb huh??

ALMOST as dumb as recommending taking out the biggest, strongest, most dominant males every year and claiming to do it for the "Health of the herd"

Hey Charles Atlasman, what is with the big racked skull below your handle???? Why not a doe??? You wanna kill a monster buck as bad as anyone and are just trying to make excuses for your lack of will-power.

Who here hunts seals?
And if you are rabbit hunting you make sue not to shot the ones that were born this year???

Don, you don't have a good argument, and instad of trying to convince people of the many good benefits of QDM (which I practice!), you come here and ridicule people who don't hunt "your way"... Guess what Don? Not everyone has private farms to hunt in central Illinios....

So if someone doesnn't practice your brand of QDM, they are not allowed to enjoy shooting a big buck? Hard to believe there are people as arrogantas you out there. I'll make sure to not buy any magazines that feature an article by you.
