Got the Blazers to Fly...
Well I don't think many others have had issue with the Blazer vanes, but I could not get them to fly well with the Phantom Broadheads...
I decided to fletch some up with right helical yesterday, and they fly Great!... I shot a blazer off one of them on my first shot at 25 yards (arrows touching)... I fletched up 4 last night, to really test them at further distances, but I'm pretty confident they will do well...

I'm not surprised you had a difficult time w/ them and Phantoms. We have done some extensive testing at the shop, and we discovered 2 areas Blazers don't work the best.....BIG fixed blade heads, and big, heavy arrows. I'm also not too surprised you got them to work well, though, either. A little helical goes a long way, huh Rob?
(Sorry my friend. Gotta get my shots in when I can!....you're a few up on me.)

Yeah took quite a bit of work, but they are actually flying well out to 35 yards... I have not tested them any further then that yet...
Not really sure it's worth the hassel... I mean what am I gaining by using them..?? What is the purpose of short vanes..?? Other then the "Cool" Factor, and having a reason to tinker with the bow, I'm not really feeling them at this point...

RE: Got the Blazers to Fly...
I shot feathers and loved them myself. The only problem I have w/ them is the water thing. No matter what I did, they always get wet, and wet feathers just don't work. Period. I even tried the zip top bag trick, still got wet. So I went searching for an alternative. Enter Blazers. A buddy of mine shoots them, so I contacted Bohning and recieved some samples. I fletched one up and did some testing. Shooting a 425 gr. arrow at 285 fps, I shot a 5" feathered arrow tipped w/ a Magnus Stinger into my target. Then I shot a Blazered arrow, tipped w/ the same, and shot a feather off the first arrow. I am now shooting all Blazers, and I don't give a hoot if it rains or not.
Other than that, there's not much to gain, except some weight loss if you are shooting 4" or longer vanes. They are designed for BH flight, but then again, so are other vanes, so the choice is personal.
