Default WHA ARTICLE IN OUTDOOR LIFE

I received my september copy of Outdoor Life this morning and there is a feature article about the WHA and it's founder David Farbman.I suggest that everyone get their hands on the issue and read the article!
There is nothing about the article that changes my mind in the least in fact just the reverse! It is much more repulsive, calculating and evil than I was aware of previously!
A paragraph from the article. "Farbmans hunters will be marketed like pro wrestlers.Brett "The dark archer" Hankins, scent specialist Karl "the doctor" Zanitzer and Joey Menegatti ("The Cowboy") are three of a projected eight-man WHA roster of competitors.Farbman sees the hunters as colorful celebrities awaiting their individual cult followings.End of paragraph.
Is this demented or what?David Farbman is also quoted as saying "I didn't come to do this as a venture.I did it because I believe it is God's vision, and we are going to carry it out."
There is also reference to beautiful "WHA ladies" to spice up the scenery.
If any true hunter isn't absolutely incensed at this load of horses--t than there is something deeply wrong. This is absolutely perverse, offensive and disgusting!!! I hope it fails miserably!!! I for one will not watch one episode,I do fear that many of us will be drawn to it like moths to a flame just out of shock and disbelief.I will actively participate in any and allcampaigns to ban any of the sponsors of the WHA.Chuck Sykes from the management advantage will be one of the first on the list because he is slated to be the WHA's lead biologist.
I am so angry about this I am surprised that I can articulate these things at all!
Two last thoughts Huntingnet is mentioned in the article,a member Luke Strommen is quoted in the article,Luke represented us well! Thanks Luke!
Lastly David Farbman is depicted as an extremely motivated individual who is not used to failing.I say we do everything we can to make sure this is one endeavor that he doesn't win!
If the beauty of the outdoors and the thrill of the hunt isn't enough of an inspiration for some one toparticipate in hunting,I would rather see hunting die a dignified death, rather to be prostituted in this way!!!!

This will be interesting. It seems like he has done his homework, wrestling has a huge following and we all know what happens when a good looking lady posts a picture on this site. things seem to light up.Hope he fails miserably tho. he will get no support from me.

Well we all said this wasn't going to go away lightly..keep the good fight and remember, if your not part of the solution, your part of the problem...

I read the article too.

My physical therapist just happened to have the newest issue in his office the other day.

The thing that suck out most to me was a quote Farbman said, it went something like this;

"Are we doing this for the money? Yes. Shoot me. But that isn't what this is really about."

And then there was another that I don't quite recall, but it was something along the lines of that the WHA is somehow God's plan.

Perhaps someone with the article themselves could correct me on these and post the actual quotes, as they have somewhat more of an impact than what I've tried to remember.

All I can say is that I dislike the WHA and Farbman even more now. God's plan? To put money in Farbman's pocket? Please, give me a break.

Bound to be a success then! As for me I wouldn't be interested. I am no dog to be led around by the leash in my pants! That tactic in itself looses me in a heart beat.

I just got my copy of Outdoor Life this evening and read the article - better late than never I suppose. And even though the darting aspect of the article may no longer be valid I was repulsed to read something new....

They are going to be GPS tracking some of the deer (hmmm the biggest ones perhaps?)

I also found the title of the article quite funny given the recent thread from our own stubborn megalomaniac - titled "Unfair Chase"

I wonder how they plan on tracking the animals via GPS now that they are no longer being drugged?

It was my understanding that the GPS tracking devices would be attatched to the projectile with the drugs on it. One of their biggest concerns was the fact that the projectiles may fall out of the animals after the shot thus rendering the devices all but useless.

Do they plan on tagging the deer beforehand and only tracking their movements after the shot, or will they eliminate the GPS tracking all together?

Your thoughts?

Thats what I understood also but according to the article, they plan to GPS tag some of the deer "providing laptop monitoring for the WHA's targeted youth audience."

Chances are now they'll tag all the deer.

One step closer to making them livestock rather than wild animals.

tsoc, I am going to include this thread among those links grouped together in my post.

Very, very disgusting, to put it plainly. And remember how Washington Hunter called out one of the Farbman plants in our dialogue when I used a religious analogy to make a point? That posteracted like he didn't want to hear or see anything linked to religion -- even if it was just an analogy to make a point. WH nailed him on it right away, and rightly so -- especially after hearing this idiot Farbman trot out this "visionary" concept.

Guys, we have indeed won some battles -- and I've been proud to have been on the front lines with you. But... there is still a war to be fought.
