I am shooting a Mathews MQ1 at 30 inchs and 60#..I shoot gold tip arrows and I get a speend of about 275+fps.. I was wondering if I should go to aluminum arrows because It seems to me that my carbon arrows are to light, and do not soak up alot of energy, causing my bow to be noisier than it has to be. Any input would help...thanks guys

How much do your finished arrows weigh?Gold tips are on the light end as arows go,but there are plenty of people who kill deer with them.If you're not sure about your arrow weight go to bowjackson.com.They have a good calculator.I personally like to be around 6.5 to 7.0 grains for every pound of draw weight.I find that will give you the best comprimize between speed, energy retention and noise levels. If you want to add a little weight you could go to a heavier point.I would also check the bow for loose accesories etc.The MQ1 is a fairly quiet bow.I have a buddy who shoots light arrows out of a high country excalibur, that thing is noisy as hell. But he's killed alot of deer with it.He's a good hunter and takes high percentage shots at unalert deer and he's never had a deer jump the string.Last count I think he was at 20 or so with it.Good luck,

OHM,
That is one of your options. You could also look at trying one of the heavier weight ICS carbons on the market. Some of them weigh as much as the average aluminum but still offer many of the benefits of a carbon arrow. You could also try installing those weight tubes that slide inside the Internal Component Carbons or, if you are into the homemade recipes, some weed eater line.
Hope this helps.

I shott the mq1 as well with limb savers and cat whiskers. I shoot carbon express 300 with 29 draw at 68#. speed averages about 265-270. I have had several comments about how quiet my bow is and I never seem to have much noise im concerned about as well. Im guessing arrow weight at about 380gr with 100gr tip. correct me if im wrong on that weight guess please.
