Should I start calling and laying scent when bowseason begins or wait till mid season

Wait.........hunt where you know they travel first! I have used scents too early and it freaked them out. When you get the itch to use these tactics WAIT till Halloween because that is when the fun starts, unless you use the fawn in distress call.

yeah it depends, a fawn bleat will work on mama does early season. also, as far as sent goes, if you use regular doe pee, or buck pee early it's ok. racoon pee also works as neutral a cover scent. don't bust out the esterus stuff till last week in oct.

You can certainly start freshening old scrapes with scent as of now.
As for calling, wait until you're in you stand.

In early season I would stick with the fawn and doe bleats ( soft and slow very little ) calls.
The only sent would be fox or coon urine on a drag rag or boot pad.
When it comes to the end of Oct., first of Nov. thats when I would start calling and rattling.
Lay a good sent trail of doe pee.
