I own the the 2005 Switchback (not the XT) and the 2005 BT Allegiance and the two bows are great but very different. My measurements shooting different weight arrows from 390 to 455 grains at 28" and 70 lbs is a 10 fps difference in speed. The BT is faster, not any better.

I've had my Mathews SB for a year and a half now, killed three deer, a ram, a goat and a squirrel with it. It's awesome!
I'm shooting a 500g arrow, 259 fps, with a drawlength of 29.5" pulling 60 lbs.
The bow is dead-in-the-hand still, quiet, accurate and very forgiving.

I shot the Allegiance yesterday and plan on getting it next week. I couldn't believe the difference fromthe old Bowtechs. When I released, I didn't feel a thing. Felt like shooting a suction cup bow and arrow...awesome.

I haven't put mine through the chrono at all but I will next week just to see how fast the XT is once my hunting shafts show up and I have a chance to build a few of them. My hunting arrow should come through at just about 405 grains, and I will be drawing 70lbs, and 30 inches. I don't know how fast it will be coming through the chrono at but I am willing to bet it will be 290 or better. Not too shabby considering it will be 50 grains over IBO ratings, and certainly fast enough for anything in the eastern whitetail woods. As a matter of fact, this will be faster than how I have my primary 3D bow setup.
Speed doesn't kill but this is the arrow setup I want, it is as dead in the hand on the shot as any other bow, the bow draws butter smooth and feels like much less draw weight, and it's the quietest bow I have ever shot (with no string silencers only OEM suppressors and STS). If 290+ fps when at 50 grains over IBO specs isn't fast enough for someone to kill a deer then 400fps isn't gonna be fast enough either.

Like everyone else has been saying, draw lenght plays a big role in your speed obviously. I shoot an 06 Bowtech Tribute at 27 in 81 lbs and it shoots 320s with 81, 82 lbs of KE. My arrows are 370 grains, but i have plenty of spine because I shoot a short arrow. My bow is just as quiet as any and id put it against an xt any day. Its all personal preference. Your not going to get the speed out of the mathews like you will the bowtech, but to some thats not as important. I recommend you go to your nearest pro shop and compare the two side by side. Buy which ever bow you feel the most comfortable with. They will both kill.
