Just wondering, cuz i'm looking at getting a guitar and learning to play.. It would be fun to beable to play a little and sing my own songs about some hunts over the years or just from the evenings hunt..
IF so, let me know, i could use some pointers on guitars and learning to play and what to purchase..

I played the clubs for many years.Lot's of great guitars out there. It really just comes down to what feels and sounds good to you.Ovation would probably be one of my top picks though.

I play a bit.I have a Fender Fat Strat,Gibson SG Special, and an Ovation(I don't play this too much). They all play and feel differant so your best bet is to get into a guitar shop and see what feel and sound you like.

go to a couple music stores and check out some guitars as well as the teachers. there are many good brands for beginners. if your gonna start off with an acoustic get one and have your teacher check it out to make sure its set up correctly. for newbies i like these. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/produ...tar?sku=518721 http://www.musiciansfriend.com/produ...tar?sku=512940 http://www.musiciansfriend.com/produ...tar?sku=515366

M.B. - Definately check out the Ovation andalso a couple different Fender acoustics. Good priced, comfortable, and good sound on them.
There are several good programs online that can teach you to play guitar. My favorite is a program called Guitar Pro. I use version 3.0 although there is a 4.0 available. (I don't care for the 4.0 - way too cluttered.)
These programs are good for learning scales, practicing timing, and playing along with actual songs.
Of course, the best way to learn is to take lessons from a professional. It may take some time to learn to read sheet music but in the long run you will play better for it. But like most modern guitar players, I only read "Tabs."
Good Luck with both your stringed instruments!!!

Ive been playin for years and do alot of gigs w/ my acoustic mostly
If your looking for a great starter guitar thats resonably priced go for the ovation. Great tone and quailty. Also if your just starting out you may want to put some nylon strings on it. It will help your fingers get accustomed to playing and help build up your calacs with less pain.
If you got some $$ to spend go for a Taylor 310CE... great guitar. Great brand. I own 2 taylors and love them both. My 310CE has been all over the world w/ me and it just keeps sounding better and better the more age it gets. I have a higher grade Taylor that plays great as well, each has their own unique sound... I love them both. I might make some guys on here mad, but Ive played many Martins, even custom made martins (a friend knows a guy who works at martin and had one made) It is a sweet guitar, but i'd pic my Taylor anyday, better sound and cleaner action.
If your not gettin lessons right away, get a Guitar Chord book and learn the basic chords (ABCDEFG) and the Minors. Then practice changing from one chord to another... G-C-D-G-C-D and repeat.
Let me know if you need any tips or places to start, Im always willing to help a fellow guitarist.
