The Summit Seat of the Pants harness can't be beat. Gotta insert a word of caution about screw in steps. Use the better ones that are plastic coated or put end caps on em. A good friend had one pull out last year and caught his arm on another one on the way down. He hit on his feet with no breaks but that step caught his arm and severed his bicep, tricep and deltoid muscle. He almost bled out on the way to the ER (5 pints).
I've gone to ladder sticks and use the prusic knot all the way up and down now.

I have and used to use a linemans belt that a buddy of mine gave me courtesy of the local power company! I purchased this set up last year at the Buckmasters Expo in North Carolina last year.

This system is lightweight and easy to use and really not that expensive.

I was reading your post about a goog safety harness for hanging tree stands. I recomend the lone wolf safety harness, also if you want a really good tree step installer that is only 12 oz. and is much more user friendly than the ameristep one check outh this web sight www.treesteptool.com it is the best tree step installer that I have ever seen.
Good luck hunting and please be safe when hanging tree stands.

Take that picture to an amish and have them make it. ( You must have some near you somewhere....) They will know exactly what you need. I brought an old one of mine that is about 70 years old and had a local amish man remake mine. You cant beat the strength of leather. And it wont cost you an arm and a leg. Or possibly your life.

I use a standard rock climbers harness. Usually costs about $60 for the more comfortable (sport) versions and it has leg loops that help support your weight when hanging. I also use a loop of static climbing rope wrapped around the tree and clipped with a 'beaner to harness. Two ropes give you continual security. Any good outdoor shop should have some and be able to show you how to use it properly and some even have rope you can hang by to see how comfortable it is to you.

The problem with the Prussic knot is that you have to get that main rope up in the tree first. So the first ascent it doesn't help you any.
