What should I do about my peep-site?

huntingson: Thats a good idea when the tube breaks. Ive never had that problem before with my tube. It hasnt been on for a week.
nchawk: I hear ya about getting a deer close. All 3 of my bowkills have been 15 yrds or less. Hell, even the ones Ive killed with a rifle have been less than 50 yards. The guy in my avatar was 15 or so, perfect bow range.

I tried going without a peep straightener, and I was never able to get it to come out exactly right. 2 trips to the bow shop and it still was coming out slightly off. I had them put my old peep back on with the straightener.
I got talking with my friend who goes all over the world bow hunting. He uses a straightener on his bow. He mentioned that a number of times he has been with another hunter who got off the airplane got to camp and his peep was no longer aligned, maybe it was the airline, maybe it was the climate change who knows. He said he just replaces the rubber tube every year and he never has a problem.

Why do you have tubing on your tribute peep? I thought that Bowtechs have a hugh quality string like a fuse or winners choice. I refuse to use a rubber tube on my bows. What's up??? Do I have to spend $$$ on a winner's choice when my Tribute arrives??

Choices 2 and 4. The tube will cost you speed and will add noise. If you just going to hunt I say get the no peep and use it for a while and then just get rid of that as well. That is what I did. The no peep will train you to shoot without a peep and before long you will not even need to use it.
I shoot pretty well without a peep. A lot better than I thought I would have. Now if I were to target shoot I would use a peep, especially at longer distances.
Well I have to go get a new *ey board now. The letter between J & L doesn't wor* anymore[:@].

Get ride of the peep.
When I first started shooting, "we" didn't use peeps, just a kisser-button and practice. Once I had it positioned in place for the kisser, I'd just "shadow" the string over the pin and I'd be right on. (keeping both eyes open, of course) I always thought it was a lot easier and faster than messing with a peep sight.

I'll throw in a vote for a no-peep. I had a peep cost me a wide 10 2 years ago & knew I had to ditch it. (first light in a ground blind, looking through a peep = dark fuzz inside a dark blind)
Since then I tried a no-peep and like it well enough. My groups are the same out to 30 (don't much shoot past that).
Like nchawkeye said most the hunting shots are close anyway.
I've got a no-peep on 2 out of 5of my bows, the other 3 have tru-peeps, but they are rarely used. If you go tru-peep make sure to get the hunter sized or larger.
If you go no-peep you should pick up a few fps when you ditch the metal and your peep sight can never be "wrong" during the moment.

hardcore: The reason I had the tubing is b/c I took everything off my trykon and had it put on the tribute, including the peep.
Paul: LOL, good luck with the keyboard.
Yooper: I have heard good things about those as well.
wayomic: I did try to practice with my eyes open and I accurate most of the time but I think I would be more consistent with a peep or something similar.
Paul: How does that no peep eventually train you to the point where you don't need it? All I see in them is a bullseye. Can't tell much from pics. I still want tights groups from 0-50 or so, not for hunting but for targets and such. Can that be accomplished with a no-peep?
