Default Question about mounts.............

I have a buddy who has 4 or 5 really nice mounts one of which probably scores in the lower 170's (never officially scored and it is a bow kill) and the others are all deer to be proud of. My question is this, what do you think he should do with them? They are currently in storage rotting and collecting dust. He just bought a house and I ask him if he is going to bring them out and hang them and he said no. He hasn't hunted in about 5 or 6 years , said he just lost the drive, the passion for hunting. No other reason, he just isn't into it like he used to be. Would it be inappropriate for someone to get these mounts and maybe have some sort of brass plate engraved with his name, place, and date of harvest and display them? I am just curious as to what you guys think? I think that might bea good idea,IMO it's a shame for these to rot away instorage , especially thebig buck. I'll see if I can get a picture and post it in this thread in a couple of days or so. [/align]

I agree, they shouldn't be left in storage. If he isn't going to put him up in his house, you could talk to him and see if he would let them be put up in a sporting goods store or something. You could get a plaque like you said, and then lend/donate/sell them to a store where they could hang on the wall. I'm sure there is someshop around that would love to add them to their decore. Who doesn't want to have big mounts in their store?

Thats a good idea and fine if he is game, but IMO they arehis andhe gets to do whatever he wants with them... that includes doing nothing with them.

It is too bad that he lost the passon for hunting as for his mounts well it is up to him if he wants to them in storage.
Maybe he should consider donating them to a hunting club or lodge with his name plate on them.

It really is a shame he has lost his drive for the hunt, but I am sure he will get it back someday. If he would like to have them displayed as was suggested, I may know of a lodge owner or two that would probably buy them from him. [email protected]

Well I no for a fact that Bass Pro Shops and cabelas will take them, and hang them. Just call the head quaters and they will tell you which store to send them to. I know cabelas is about to open a new store in atlanta. So im sure that they will tell you to send it to that store when it opens. And i also have a friend who is opening a sporting goods store and im selling him a couble of mounts that i mounted for him.
