Not exactly a seasoned BOW hunter but I have hunted for over 25 years. Took up the bow this year for a new challenge. I don't grunt unless I see a buck. Some people do blind call but I spook deer sometimes when I don't realize they are so close. I rattle every half hour (have for the last week) the first 2 hours of daylight, and last 2 hoursof daylight if I don't see any deer close. I rattle in the bucks when I see them by just tickling the antlers together then stop when I have their attention. I can't explain why I only rattle sometimes but I just have a feel for my hunting area and can sense when to do it. Grunting blind can keep bucks away if they are intimidated. I think rattling every half hour or so all day would be unnatural to the deer so I limit it.
