Central Illinois (shelybville )
Does anybody that lives in Central Illinois hunt around Shelbyville or in Moultrie county on the public land that surrounds the lake. I use to hunt there, and had some decent success, but live to far away to hunt there on a regular basis. I have since given up on hunting, because of the lack of hunting ground the I can get permission on, but am interested in knowing if anybody is having sucess on the public ground there. Can't wait to here some good stories, Good luck the rest of the season and stay safe.

I quit because everytime I went there I saw about ten times more people then I did deer. I use to hunt around the Bethany area, took a buck three years in a row. One actually scored in the mid 130's, not bad for public grounds, but I just hated to fight all the people. I am though getting the fire back in me, just don't have a real good area that I can count on. Oh how I miss the woods and the smell of fall.

What public land are you guys talking about? The state parks or the Core of Engineer land that surrounds the lake. I have always wanted to go down there and hunt but never knew who to talk to or where. We camp right on the lake near Findlay and there is some awesome deer that live back along the lake.
