I use a 3 point arrow rest and the arrow squeeks when I draw. I put teflon sleeves on it and siliconed the arrows. This helped a bit but I can still hear the draw. Can The deer hear this noise at 20 yards?
I went to the sports shop and tried all types of rests and arrows and all of them squeeked. Scott has a mnechanical res that picks up the arrow after the draw.. Do these work there must be a down side?
Thanks Striper Phil

Are you sure it's your arrow rest that is squeeking? I do know that some high pitched sounds are hard to pin point. The can be elusive as to their origin. I have had a problem with a wheel and the cable slide squeeking. Good Luck!!!

Well I had the same problem with my new rest so I took some of that rubber that goes from your peep sight to the cable and I slid it over the metal on my rest and now you can't even hear it. I will say it made some noise the first couple of times I dragged arrows across it but after a couple of target shots it was fine.

in a hunting situation you can run your finger on side of your nose and then rub the contact points of your rest,it will deposit just enough oil to quiet things down, try it
If I ain't huntin',I'm trappin',If I ain't trappin',I'm fishin'
If I ain't fishin',I'm wishin'!

I'm actually having the same problem myself with the rubber coming of the tip of the arrow rest and causing squeaking. A friend of mine suggested using shrink tubing over the arrow rest and then using a hair dryer to get it to shrink down. Just a thought.

Phil,
I have battled this for years with different kinds of rests. The last rest I shot sounds like the one you have now, or close, so I put a little vaseline on the 3 prongs every time I notched a hunting arrow while in the stand. This wasn't fail-safe, it still squeeked a little. I then cut very small strips of moleskin and covered the three prongs, and it did away with the noise but I constantly had to deal with the moleskin coming loose.
This year I went to the Muzzy dropaway rest and thru one season I can tell you that this thing is noise free and also mainteneance free as well. This rest also improved my accuracy tremendously. It eliminated any fine tuning to the bow, and I shot really tight groups even at the 40 yard mark which is something that I usually never have done before. No need to worry about fletchings or vanes aligning up or clearing the rest, no slight arrow wobbles, etc.
I know that with only one season's use with this rest I cannot give you a longterm outlook about it, but for now I couldnt be happier. It is probably the ONE accessory that I have bought that was the biggest bang for my buck, except for my Parker 35, that is.<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
Good luck,
