Range finders

RE: Range finders
I just bought a Bushnell Pro Sport 450. For the price I could not turn it down. So far I'm pleased as I will only be usingit to range reference points at my stands. I figure itmight help cut down on the amount of scent inand around my stand areas.

I got one out of BassPro 3-4 years ago. Not digital, all you do is look through the lens at what you want to mark and turn the focus dial until the image is no longer blurry. Accurate +/- 1 yard up to around 50 yards. I paid about $30 for it.

Does anyone make a decent short range rangefinder that doesn't require a bank loan to purchase ? I used to be able to find the old style "coincidence image" types but I haven't seen one in awhile .

RE: Range finders
I've gone through two old Bushnell Yardage Pros now. One the ocean got and the other fell out of its cheapa$$ case and the last I saw it was bouncing off a rock 150' below me while on a goat hunt. The next day I went and put the Nikon 400 up next to the Bushnell 400 Yardage Pro. I went home with the Nikon and haven't ever regretted it. I'd like to get a look at one of the new Leupolds that compensates for extreme angles, that'd come in real handy on mountain goats!

My son and I have had the Opt-Logic rangefinders for about 5 years since at that time they were the only one which corrected for horizontal distances. We found that necessary for hunting sheep and sitka deer in my state and mule deer in his.

Leica 900.I found mine on ebay last year.It can be used in low light conditions because of the iluminated red display.
