RE: Climbers--To Noisy?

My first climber was one of the old Baker's. It was quite noisy and I eventually switched to a pin-mounted fixed position stand more than 10 years ago. This year, I just bought an Ol' Man climber and it's very quiet going up and absolutely silent when set. I have had some problems with noise during the walk in, but I am gradually finding the sources and eliminating the problems.

Today's small bucks are tomorrow's trophies.

RE: Climbers--To Noisy?

Climbers are noisy, but I don't think most of the noise bothers deer much. I can't tell you how many times on the way up or the way down, I stop and look around and see deer that are paying no attention to me.

I have a Summit Cobra and I don't think I've ever attached it to a tree without substantial noise getting the cable back in. Also, virtually evey time, the seat section falls and bangs against the foot section, while I'm getting onto the stand. All this and I still see deer right away, many times.

If you're not seeing deer, most likely either the wind is wrong, you're moving too much or you're not set up in the right spots.
