RE: "Air Rest" Levitating arrow rest
I wonder if it slows the arrow down, since the magnets are so strong they might hold the arrow longer.... Also does the magnet in the arrow disrupt FOC balance? Looks like a great idea, hopefully it will continue to get improved upon, I would buy one if I had the money to spend.
I remember the first time I saw a whisper bisquit, thinking "what a gimmick, that thing will never catch on!" |
RE: "Air Rest" Levitating arrow rest
How heavey is the tip/insert that you have to use?

RE: "Air Rest" Levitating arrow rest
I love when a'staff shooter' comes on here to promote items they are probably given and expect other archers/hunters to shell out some heavy money for an 'developmental' product. Many do it with an 'air' of superiority and speak as though they are experts concerning the archery industry.
Anyway, this subject was covered quite well in the 'Technical' section on this forum. Here isa link and just one post of quite a fewthat I made: http://www.huntingnet.com/forum/tm.aspx?m=1395540&mpage=1 "Thank you for your admissions that this rest is not for everybody. This is where we totally agree. I can't in good conscience put thisrest on my shelves and sell it to the average customer. I cannot set it up for a customer and expect them to come back to me for 'refitting'. I cannot expect or recommend to most customers that theyinvest incustom strings on new bows. The LD version may fix some problems, but with the'tinkering' you say may be required, have they really fixed the marketability? This was really one of my points from the beginning. The Air Rest that is attempting to enter the archery marketplace has similar problems. While it is a great idea, the present design does not come close to meeting the complete requirements of the archery market." Go to the link to see the entire thread. |
RE: "Air Rest" Levitating arrow rest
the inserts vary in what they weigh between different brands of arrows...you generaly add 15 to 20 grains to the tip...you can counter that by dropping weight in your field point or broadhead...if you are a target shooter and use glue in tips, you can get them in just about any weight you want without adding any weight.these are easy to set up and if you plan it out,you can have the arrow at the same weight you currently shooting.you do have to cut the arrows to specific lengths to make it work...no big deal, you have to cut new arrows anyways.with the set up i have now,i have a 10%foc...these are the most consistant rest that i have ever used....no moving parts,no noise when released(none),no wiskers to freeze when it gets wet,no cords to break or come loose...the magnets are rare earth magnets that will last longer than you will live and there are some new concepts with this rest that are in development right now...if anyone buys one or has one and needs help on setting it up,just give me an pm and i will gladly help.

LOL Ohio Ross Guy...you come on this site as a newb with 20 posts PRAISING this rest and tearing down anyone who posts otherwise. Heaven forbid someone not like the idea. I also find it funny how you "defend it because you know it works". You wouldn't be "defending it" because your on the freakin' air-rest shooting staff would you? Nope...that wouldn't be it at all.

RE: "Air Rest" Levitating arrow rest
I think its a great idea and I would definitely try it out, I just don't have the $150 or more to drop on an arrow rest. I do agree with the "don't knock until you've tried it" phrase. Hey, when carbon arrows first came out alot of people were against them, now just about everyone shoots them.

ORIGINAL: Ohio Ross Guy i was praising this rest before i was a staff shooter....thats why i became a staff shooter...i was defending this rest from your remarks in your first post.how can you tare something down that you obviosly never even used.just because you dont like the idea doesnt mean it doesnt work. maybe i come on a little strong and if i do,i apologize...im just sticking up for what i believe in. i find it kind of funny that you have no idea what your talking about they will just presume they know that the rest doesnt work when in reality they dont have a clue |
