JIMMY HOUSTON PETITION

I could only get 1 of the videos to play and it would be nice to at least hear JH explain or more info BUT.... I try to place myself in that position and find it hard to do. As an outdoorsman and hunter, its hard to imagine he didn't know what was going on. At the least I would think he is guilty of about as poor judgement as a hunter could have and thats magnified by the fact he makes his living at it and is out there in front of people. Really a shame.

For those beating the drum and crying he didnt shoot anything. He was trying to. Why do I say that? He was standing up in his stand, arrow knocked, and his trigger on the bow. When the Buck ran under his stand he bleated 2 or 3 times trying to stop it, then he looked at his camera man and laughed then said it just wont stop. He was trying to stop the deer for a shot.
I always liked Jimmy, but he just lost a fan in me.

Ronnie dunn from brooks & dunn was invited there to hunt, he also shot a buck in the same pen as jimmy houston did the 160 acre pen.
he hunted with out a lic. before the court case even started he left a message on his fans site saying he was sorry he got involved with the whole thing.I am not sure if i belive it or not but he claimed it was the first time he had ever been deer hunting and did not know better at the time.does that make him any better maybe maybe not.he is not a spokesmen for of hunters and he said he was sorry long before this all started atleast he had the grapefruits to admit he messed up and everything. i do not really care that much for him or his music and yes i think he is a dirt ball for going to the place, but he is not out there telling everyone he shot the deer in a fair chase hunt and right from the start he told everyone he picked the deer out of a group of bucks and said thats the one i want on my wall.better then jimmy hell no

I guess the way I see it is this isn't hunting, I think we all agee on that issue.
But if your going to "sink JH's boat" I think your aiming too low. I believe some of you would be shocked toknow how many of the videos you have watched were staged. There are so many big names out there that are guilty of this it isnt even funny; especially in the early years of making outdoor videos.
Even educational documentary's have not gone unscathed. Currently the name escapes me of a nationally know outdoorsman that made numerous documentaries for the likes of National Geographic, Nature, etc.. He was exposed for using drugged animals in his shows. Shoot, even Marlin Perkins (Wild Kingdom) was almost taken out by a drugged python one time. A lot of you guys are to young to remember that show but it use to be a weekly network TV show.
Of course the two mentioned above were not hunting shows, but when you dig all of the mud out and come to the bottom of the well, you will find the same motivating factor that isa common thread in each of thesecases - money.
I am no fan of Mr. Houstonbut all of this "smack talk" concerning his transgressionI find interesting. If your going to throw Jimmy Houston under the bus for committinga forgery with such enthusiasm, you better include a few more names on your petition, some that I have seen praised on this very forum.

I am closely associated with a company that makes spring Turkey hunting videos, and they are in fact filmed in the wild, on public land. Also there is a Ranch called dream mountain that invitedthem to film deer hunts on their property in exchange for sponcership, they declined. Instead they shoot average fair chase bucks.
But I have also heard of Big Names other than Huston doing this. In fact the dream mountain ranch had a frequent vititor that has a very impressive wall of Buck Mounts, and is Initals are R.R.

all these guys on TV are "pro hunters". 75% of the guys making videos are just good shooters, thats it. they drive to a high fence ranch hand the guys some money and the guide sits him in a tree right where the deer have been seen for the last 2 months and they film the shot. this is just taking it one step further. its just disgusting.

I cant belive JH was doing that. I remember watching his shows a little kid and always wanting to fish and hunt with him. Now i dont even want to here his name. He is a disgrace to to all sportsmans and is ruinging something that all of us love.

soon he will be like another one time hunting cleb Noel Feather.
You never hear his name anymore and at one time you could not talk about deer hunting with out dropping his name.
i could care less about watching pro hunters on tv anyway. i would rather watch the everyday hunters like you and myself. i dont want to watch some guy or girl get paid to take trophy class bucks every time.Heck a doe hunt by the everyday hunter does more for me then this kind of stuff
