This morning i shot my first deer with a bow, but i shot it far back kinda in the hip area...we saw blood, my arrow is still in the deer, and were going to let it set till tomorrow morning, has anyone else had a shot like that? what happened, did it die? i'm real nervous cuz i don't want a deer running around with my arrow stuck in it.

It depends on how far back you hit it, if you hit the intestines, stomach etc. it is probably going to die. If you hit it in the actual leg the only real chance you have is if you hit the artery running in the hip, i think it is the femoral artery, I'm not sure though.

Yes its happened to me better wait at least 12 hours and then go look. If its gut shot it should die, but a muscle hit is questionable.

if you know someone with a good dog, deffiently go get it.if not take your time and walk very slow and carefuly,so as not to disturb the trail.if it is hit in the back of the leg or ham the chance is good.
Good Luck On Finding It.

Good job on waiting for it to die. Give it time. As far as the dog goes if its a dog for tracking thats one thing but dont take your house pet out
