I have killed as many hunting on the ground ( hidden ) as I have in a tree. I do agree with you though 20 ft is a good mark to keep from getting busted exspecially with a climber where you usually have no cover.

I have most of my permenant stand's around 16 ft from the ground and have great success with it ,but I usually like to stay around 20 feet with my climber .I haven't noticed any difference with seeing deer ,I see just as many at close range as I do at 20feet.

Anywhere from 20-25ft. Sometimes as long as I dont run out of bow rope.

My ladderstands are either 15 or 16 feet. With my climber, I try to get up around 20 feet if the tree permits. Being higher up can help prevent getting busted, but it has more to do with scent and when to and not to move.

Foliage regulates most of my setups however I do try to be over 20' if possible. When using my climbing stands, I climb until I feel the bow come off the ground on my 25' rope. When using my lockons, I have 20' of climbing sticks and others I utilize what I can to make at least 20'. Couple that with my ASAT 3D, I've never been picked out while drawing etc....usually I can dance a jig up there with deer below me. I film, take still photo's and even talk to deer without being detected. Of course I'm not talking to my shooter deer but the little ones I do...
