I appreciate all of your thoughtful posts.
And believe me I will never give up on the
sport. I love to hunt, it is my favorite
pasttime. I would be glad to hunt with any
of you guys. I have rifle hunted for 4 years
with no luck. This is my first season for bow
hunting, so far so good/ awesome. I am still
walking on air over the 8 point I killed first
day of season. Thanks for all your posts and a
special thanks to my Grandpa for all his love
and help this year and in the past. He's the
greatest.

Richard

Congrats and welcome to the board Richard. I too am a young archer, and there is nothing quite like taking your first buck and sharing the experience with your family. There is plenty of information on this board for everyone, but it sounds like you should be the one giving the tips.

we all have the same thing happen at one time or the other. sounds like you did the best you could. Don't give up at this point.
You will always remember that shot and wish you could have done different. that is something you learn from.
you have a grandfather that loves you evry much,we can tell from the way the computer screen lights up when he posts about you.
learn from him and your dad.
welcome to the board, just jump in when you feel the need.

Get that youngster back in the stand...No doubt he was wanting to get out of school to try to find that deer. Sometimes things like this happen. Keep shootin' and go get another.

Richard- You've accomplished a lot in a short time as a deer hunter. I hunted many years before I got my first deer. I give you a lot of credit for 2 good shots this year. I'am sure you did everything you could think of to recover your deer by yourself. It sounds like your deer did not go to waste. Nature has a way of taking care of itself. The next time you go hunting remember you are a good shot and don't be afraid to pull the trigger!!!

He's kickin' my butt this year.
Great tale.
I can't wait for my son to get old enough to hunt!
He's 22 months and his 3 favorite words are Bow, Arrow and Deer!
My wife shakes her head when I'm shooting at the 3-d target.
Everytime I hit it My boy says "Daddy, Daddy, Dead Deer!
Tell your grandson we all applaud his passion!

Hey congrats to both of you. The only way to guarantee you will never fail to recover the deer is to never hunt. You done good.

Welcome to the boards Richard. Sounds like your having a great season. Don't take losing the doe to hard, you did everything you could to find her. Sometimes it just happens like that no matter how much we try to prevent it. Get back out there and get ahead of grampa again.
