I get off work at 3:30. I get to my stands around 4:30 or 5:00. I have yet this season (11 hunts) to see any deer before 6:30. I live in Missouri and last shooting light is around 7:20 right now. I stay in the mornings 'til 10:30 if I am in the timber. Every stand varies though; Bedding area, feeding area, transition zone, rut, pre-rut, etc. I will stay all day long in the timber during the rut. I just sit and write a journal about the day/years events on a little scratchpad to pass the time. Many a deer have interrupted my pencil.

If you got the time and can stand it tis good to stay all day. I don't seem to have that gift any more. I have taken two this season in the middle of the day. I agree with the boys who say during the rut all bets are off! You may see them anytime! As long as you can be comfortable and still, stay. You don't have to wait till 3:00 PM to start the hunt. Earlier the better.

i like to reach my stand at 2:00. Cause the deer are still bedded at that time, and as long as u dont scare the while entering the stand you are in good shape.
