RE: One BAD Day
He never did respond to why they were still flinging arrows at more deer after they were sure 2 deer had already been hit!

RE: One BAD Day
2 years on this board - worst story, and reaction Ive read - except maybe the roadhunting story by "Billy something" last year - anyone else remember that?
I even wonder if HC isn't making it ALL up, just for a reaction. (you know - 60yd bow shots, walking along with his buddy - flinging arrows, etc.) The board can be a little harsh at times, I woudn't say this was one of those times. ![]() |
RE: One BAD Day
I am gonna say what everyone has hinted. You are a liar. I don't think that any of what you said ever happened. Two young guys walking along and can sneek up on some many deer !!!!!! No. I think you have been watching the movie Westworld too much. The bad thing about your post is not whether it happened or not. It is the fact that you are quite happy to tell us all about it. If anything like that happened to the majority of people on this board they would curl up in a corner somewhere and die fo shame. You tell the whole world, and for what reason. You are not after advice, your not sharing tips ( who needs tips from you) , your just telling a story. One that you know will generate a lot of attention cause you need to be the center of attention. Whats the matter, did your mother not love you when you where a small boy. You make me sick. I think that the moderators should give your details to the wildlife organisations and let them deal with ya. Step into my zone boy and I will quite happily put a couple of arrows in ya.
I am sorry if my words offend you decent people out there but crap like this is one sure way to bring tighter restrictions from the powers that be. X-Pat Brit Livin the good life in NC |
RE: One BAD Day
I noticed it too, mdbohuntr. And I'm hoping the reason is that most of us "old timers" aren't going to get sucked in to what I think The Mouse accurately picked up on! Maybe not Koontzy in the flesh, but very much in the spirit!
There's too much here that simply could not have happened: If you drill a doe behind the shoulders, causing her to "high-kick" -- meaning most probably a heart shot -- and she leaves bright, red blood for 150 yards, and then another 75 yards ...? Ahem. I'm sorry; I don't believe that. Period. And I think some others pointed out the time discrepancies. Here were his original plans: <BLOCKQUOTE id=quotequote:
My buddy is going to hunt out of my climber next to where I took the doe yesterday. I on the other hand have to pick up another hunting buddy to hunt with the rest of the week.

But yet he somehow found the missing deer when he wasn't even going to look for them! This is either a rookie poster wanting to get some attention, or fit in (I think he found out this is not the way to do it), or get everyone's feathers ruffled (which he did). But it's not someone who respects wildlife, nor -- I suspect -- someone who respects the truth. |

Personally I would rather you quit "hunting" then posting but it's a start I guess.

- Atlasman Let the stoning begin!! Krisken sounds as tho the kicking did not do you any good. Grow up man.

RE: One BAD Day
krisken...good post and very good point. There is a lot of inconsistency involved here. Guys that would take an unethical and irresponsible shot at a coyote but then crucify someone for doing the same to a deer. I, myself, would do neither and am therefore without flaw resulting in a pure perfected hunting machine. Sooner hunter has no clue what he is posting about...too many mule kicks to the head.

RE: One BAD Day
Wolfen you're perfect too?
Damn and I thought I was the only one. Do you think there are other out there? |
RE: One BAD Day
The replies here started out as constructive criticism for wrongful doings on his morning hunt. For the storey, as we were told it, I feel constructive criticism was justified. But IMO, there are a few of you that have taken this to the point of bashing this guy and it is wrong of you to do so. And in doing this, have placed your selves in his shoes and are just as wrong.
We come to this board to tell our tales, get advice, learn new technics, and become better hunters. If we are doing something wrong or unethical, it is well that there are folks here to tell us so, that we may learn to do better. Whether or not HC BF has learned anything from the replies here is his choice, but I am sure that the next time he is in the field shooting, he will remember. He has already said that he was leaving, and as far as I know he has. For those of you that suggested such a thing, you should be ashamed of yourselves. As in a sin, one is not higher than another, a sin is a sin. In the same sense, a wrong is a wrong, and one wrong does not justify another. Don't get me wrong, I replied on page 3, and do not agree with what he did on that morning. I have asked that this thread be locked, so that the bashing of this fellow "LEARNING" hunter be stopped. The best of luck in all your hunting endeavors!!! God Bless, Dave |

RE: One BAD Day
I think it may be a good idea for the mods to lock this. I am sure by now this young man knows what he did was unethical, it is one thing to try and educate some one on a mistake in ethics, it is another to allow a flaming to go on and on. One of two things will happen, he will either learn from this mistake or figure that the guys totally flaming him are a bunch of jerks and continue doing what he is doing. In the future we all need to take situations like this and try to teach rather than attack. We need all the ethical hunters we can get out there.

RE: One BAD Day
Krisken, I understand what you are trying to say about inconsistancies(?). I believe you are correct about that. It all depends on who you are and how many people you have made friends with.
Mdbohunter, I noticed that also. I used to criticize people who did things like this and made enemies. It appears some people are either afraid to make enemies or else they probably would have done the same thing HCBF did and saw nothing wrong with it. I know of someone who shot a 9 point through the bushes, and it was so dark his "old tired eyes" could barely see, only because it was the biggest deer he ever saw and was hoping he'd get it...He did but the next day after eat was eaten by coyotes. He is an "old timer". Could this be what other "old timers" are like? I hope not. Some people just seem to think they can thread an arrow through the bushes. Tazman, and Deerdust, I agree. It is time to lock this thread and move on. FOOLPROOF? Never underestimate the power of a fool! What if the "Hokey Pokey" really is what it's all about? |
RE: One BAD Day
Tazman are you taking your ball and going home?
The way I see it everybody has just about said everything they can say to poor High Country and now we're just playing around trying to lighten things up. I guess we'll have to find a new game if they're shutting this one down. A agree with you though, too much "constructive criticism" might turn him off so much that he totally misses the message behind it all. Hey by the way, I noticed the logo. Are you a disabled hunter? Do you mind my asking what your disability is? OK all you perfect people move along, nothing to see here. Come on, keep it moving, the party's over...... |

RE: One BAD Day
How much things stay the same amazes me. I remeber posts last season just like this one. When seasons pass the posts lighten up. Heat of the battle I guess.
My point: I've made mistakes, but I try and foccus on doing what's right and things tend to just work out. Hopefully reading this post will teach a few more young and old hunters alike what not to do. 1. don't lie 2. think first Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence and determination.
