Cougar Mag,
I can put my Cuddeback out in September, and get well over 1500 pics by opening weekend, and still have plenty of battery life to run it a couple of more weeks. Love it....Got the 1.3 and the 3.0.....

Got me an old camtrakker nondigital and am ready to upgrade.
Can you take out, put in memory cards even with a bear safe box on it, WITHOUT TAKING THE ENTIRE UNIT OFF THE TREE?
Also, where can you get memory cards cheap? I imagine with 3.0 megapixels (I'm guessing the pre-2005 cameras had lower mexapixels?), pictures will use up a lot of memory so I'm interested in cards that hold a lot of memory.
Thanks!

You have to just remove the cover by unscrewing the little gold screw on the bottom of the cam. the cover comes off and the mem card is right in the side of the cam. You will have to take the bear box cover off, but you dont need to remove the cam fromthe tree. Hope this help, it is an AWESOME cam.

Sorry didn't see your other question, You need Compact Flash mem. cards and they can be bought for about $25 for a 256 MB card. The 256 card will holdlike 450 pictures or something like that. I buy 2 cards though so you can just switch them out when you check the cam.

Thanks for the replies!
A few more quick questions....
Will the256 mb will hold 450 pictures from the 3.0 megapixel camera, or only the 2.0 megapixel version?
Also, my main question is, where do I find flashcard readers THAT HOOK UP TO PORTABLE TV SETS so we can view the cuddeback pictures at the cabin? I can find flashcard readers, but don't see how they can hook up to a TV. The description of the game camera on ebay states that the pictures can be viewed on a TV, but what is needed to make that happen?
Thanks!

Prolly want to make sure that you portable TV has composite inputs, but I'm sure you can get an antenna adapter at radioshack if it doesn't.

I too have one of the 3MP Cuddebacks and while it's a very nice camera, I'm not sure it's worth the $400 price tag. It has a few quirks that bugs me.
1) It has no on/off switch whatsoever. Every single time I go up to check it, I get popped in the face by the flash. Very disappointing IMO. It should at least have some type of exernalon/off/standby switch.
2) IME the flash is weak. I don't know if they improved that since I bought mine. The flash on my Moultrie 200 is better.
3) I have yet to figure out how to hook my laptop up to it and view/download the pictures.
IMO the new Moultrie 3.1MP is a better buy. For 1/2 the cost of the Cuddeback it wil take pics that are just as good, and has a better flash. The only advantages I have seen that the Cudde has over the Moultrie is the fast trigger time and maybe the security features. Having the temp & moon phase stamped on the pics from the Moultrie is definitely a plus IMO. The weakest points of the Moultrie are the slower trigger time and the mounting system.

Go from behind the cam if you dont want to get hit by the flash. Do you expect it to only take pictures of game? if you walk in front of it at night time your going to get flash, no programing it to not take pics of people.
Flash has 2 settings standard and High, i have not even used high yet standard has PLENTY of light.
You have to have a Compact flash card reader to download the pictures, here is a link for one, this is a USB port adaptor, so if you laptop has a USB hub you can use it. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=541573&CatId=956 For only $15 you cant beat that.
Never once have i heard anything good about a moultrie! but if you like it use it. I will spend $400 on a Cudde anyday anytime. I have one already and will probably have about 2 or 3 more by next season. IMHO best trail cam on the market.
