I was wondering if anyone has used or uses any kind of scent control clothing. I have heard some folks say that it is a waist of money, and others that swear by it. If anyone has had success with scent lok, scent blocker, etc. please let me know what you think. Thanks.

I don't use it simply because I think it is too expensive. Without it so far this season I have shot 4 deer with my bow. I have watched on two seperate occasions 4 deer bed down within 35 yds of me (they were there over an hour each). I have also had smaller bucks and shooter bucks (after my buck tag was filled) walk around and stay in shooting range for over 15 minutes. I am not going to say that the scentlock stuff is a waste of money but I have found that it is not necessary for me.

The Gentleman speaks the truth, I would be curious to know how high he hunts in his stand. My guess he only hunts a stand when the wind is right. I have used scent-lok the last 6 years and I have a great success with it and without. I feel scent elimantion products are much better which has help. If you keep your hunting clothes clean and scent free and yourself you should be fine. I like scent-lok when I walk to and from my stand. This is where I feel I get the most benifit. Everyone has story about deer coming close to them, but its the deer we never see, are the ones I worry about. How many deer have we scared that we never seen? This is why I wear scent-lok.

I try to play the wind as much as possible, but the spot i'm hunting ( seen 3 monsters) is low lying swampy area where the wind tends to swirl quite a bit. I've been picking trees where I can climb anywhere from 20 to 25 feet. I,ve been seeing the deer about 70 to 80 yards out hoping to close the distance yet not let the deer wind me. I ordered the scent blocker dream suit hoping that it would help. I guess only time will tell.

I've used Supprescent for the past couple years and do believe it helps. Key word is "helps." You still need to use scent free soaps, spray down with scent killer, play the wind, etc.in order to be as scent free as possible. With that said, I never go into the woods without my Supprescent headcover, jacket, pants, and gloves. I truly believe it has helped me see more deer.

As for the price argument, yes if you buy scent control clothing from a retail store you will pay top dollar. I've been buying my Supprescent clothing on eBay lately. I got a new jacket and pant set for $75.

I have had luck with sentlock in the past , seems more deer are not spooked down wind of me , BUT , it has a lifespan , 1 to 2 years tops , and then its just camo

I don't use it. I think if you just watch the wind you will be ok. I will say that I think the THEORY behind scentlock is solid, I'm just not convinced that it has been perfected yet to where you can get multiple uses out of it. I also believe that in my lifetime it will be perfected.

I'm talking about the whole regeneration-reactivation argument. I will say that if indeed it can be reactivated-regenerated to the point where it becomes usefull again, it should work to some extent depending on how many garments (pants, jacket, gloves, hat, facemask, boots, etc...) are worn. There are those with good credentials that say you can regenerate-reactivate it in your home dryerand there are those with just as good credentials who say you can't.

When everyone can agree.....that's when I will fork out the big bucks. Untill then I will say, I'm not sure about it.

Stands I hang I usually tend to hunt 16-22 feet in the air. I do hunt stands that are friends (a couple of us share stands) and they tend to only put them 12-15 feet. I do like to hunt when the wind is right but will not stay home if the wind is not in my favour. This year I got a bad cold after dragging two does about 1/2 mile in 10 degree temps. The next week I was in a stand (a buddies about 12 foot high) with the wind right and had a Halls cough drop in my mouth and killed a 120" buck, on way overhunted public ground to boot. The best scent control is wind!
As far a them smelling me coming in who knows. I like to think it doesn't affect anything. I have made 37 trips to the woods this season and have only NOT seen deer 6 times.

I don't have any. I just try to keep the wind in my favor. No way they can smell you then.

I've never used it until this year and have had deer pretty close. I've used scent sprays, soap, etc. I did buy a Scentlok leafy suit this year and have to say I love it. It was a little pricey but I like all of the features. Pockets, 3D leafs, bow arm guard, etc. I didn't get out much this year but when I did I had deer right under me and I was only 8' to 10' up once and 12' the other times and I didn't use any other scent supprescent. So far I have to say its the best camo I've had and seems to work. I also believe you can do just fine without scent suits. Myself, I will happily use them when I can.
