Guys I want to book a bow hunt for next year if possible in either Ill. or Iowa. I know these are two of the top places to go and would appreciate any info on Guides or outfitters in either of these places.
I have been itching to to go after a big boy in the 150+ inch class and want the best possible chance while being FAIR CHASE. I am starting to go out beyond my NJ homeand want abig Whitetail for my first adventure outside my home state. Next could be a proghorn or elk moose or black bear etc. So help me start off on the right foot with a great guide.
Thanks guys.

445, you may be better off on a do-it-yourself hunt. The outfitters are over-rated here in Illinois. There are big bucks in the 150 class range out there and no outfitter is going to improve your odds IMO. Remember, everyresident hunter here in Illiniois would like to shoot a 150 class buck also.We have some public hunting areas in the state that have a size minimum on bucks which allows them to grow older. Send me an e-mail and I can steer you to some good areas for you to start researching.

I guess if i was you looking at some of these big buck pics makes we want to hunt iowa. There are alot of huge bucks both places, but i would go to Iowa over ILL. just cause of all the huge buck pics have seen on here.

Unless the tag situation changes in Iowa your not going to hunt there next year. Start building preference points up and you may get in there in a couple years if your lucky.

I can tell one guide to say away from in Pike Co. IL. I spent right at $3000 with this guy saw a 160" deer on two different ocassions while leaving the area I was hunting. He never tried to get me on this deer after I made several request to him and my guide to hang a stan around the feild. I will agree with most that the guides are over rated in IL. However, I did speak with two guides this season as I was planing another trip back to IL. I feel like these guys would make every effort to put me on a top endbuck. I did not book with either since I was lucky enough to have some private land come available to me in Pike Co. If you will drop me an email I can provide you the contact info for the guys I spoke with. I will also give you theoufitters name who not to use.My email is [email protected]My email adress has a under score between the popknots & 74.

I would say neither. IL is over rated and Iowa doesn't have the deer population. I would say go with Buffalo County, WI. I have met a nice guy who has an outfitting business up there. 100% wild & fair chase on about 3000 acres give or take. I don't remember price. Just visited during the summer. Great Guy and lots of big bucks. I have seen them. The website is buffalocountyoutfitters.com. I not getting any perks for this post. His business has been on a lot of the popular videos the last couple years.

Brian, give Neb a thought. Big, big bucks there too. Jerry, the guy that sells stablizers and is a member here has a new guide service there. I've talked to him and it seems first class all the way.
